Story A New Zealand Career. [Cricket 07]

Mark Richardson is here with the West Indies coach.

Mark Richardson: Well what can I say? Not the best performance I've seen in my time.

Coach: Well yes, of coarse I am very disapointed with this score, but we will battle through and try keep the Black Caps score to a minimal.

Mark Richardson: What do you think went wrong?

Coach: There are two things that went wrong. One the New Zealand bowlers were at their very best today and they deserved that innings. They stuck to their plan, and didnt let us play cricket at all. And secondly the pitch was not in our favour. We were very suprised when the grounds keeper left the covers off and it rained last night as that does not happen much here so we were abit confused with this. We are used to batting on very hard or dusty pitches so damp we were confused on how to play on this, and the Black Caps are used to damp/green pitches over there. But of coarse that is not an acceptable excuse, and once and again congratulations the New Zealand bowlers.
Mark Richardson: Thank you for that, and remember this game is not over yet.

Coach: Cheers.

F.Edwards celebrates another New Zealand wicket.

New Zealand All Out As The Windies Clean Up The Tail

The Black Caps have been bowled all out for a very low total of 76 after just 20 overs. This test match is just getting more and more bizzare as we are already through two inning's in just 3/4 of a day. We are sure to have a winner, the hard part is predicting which one. New Zealand looked in complete controll when they bowled out the West Indies for 38, but came back with a equally poor performance of 76. Here is a scorecard on how the New Zealand inning's ended.

The New Zealand scorecard after their first innings.

West Indies Take The Win In A Huge Turn Around
The West Indies have pulled off a huge victory when they scored 492/9 dec in their second inning's. Some are already saying this is the biggest turn around in test history after just scoring just 38 in the first test. The West Indies had 2 huge run scores, Gayle (119) and Lara (159). Shane Bond got an early wicket and had the West Indies 0/1 after 7 overs. Consecutive madians put the Indies under huge pressure, but Gayle and Lara turned pressure into runs and won the game for the West Indies. In reply to the West Indian's 492, New Zealand put on 214, with Peter Fulton top scoring with 44. The last 3 wickets showed some resistance scoring 34 runs (two 4's and three 6's) but it just wasnt enough to get the huge 455 required.

It has been a pleasure bringing you this first test match of the test series and be sure to check back here for more results from the New Zealanders in the West Indies.

Coaches Comments:
To many people this may not look like the strongest side to face such a good West Indian team but, we beleve that this may be our strongest side. Now it may be some shock to you, but no we havnt announced our team wrong, there is no Stephan Fleming, and there is one reason for that and that is because he is just not in form. He has had a rough couple of months batting wise, so we have given him a rest to get his mind off cricket. Also Brendon McCullum has jumped from his usel position of about 7 and 6 to opener. He has been requesting this spot as of late, and we have decided to see how he goes here. Daniel Vettori will be captain, he is the captain for the Northan Nights and we think that he is the right man for the spot after Flemings absence.

Vettori got asked on how he feels about captaining the Black Caps.

VETTORI4.jpg

Vettori: Well this is just a dream come true, I've always wanted to captain the New Zealand Black Caps, and now I have my chance. I have had some valuable captaining practive with the Northan Nights, but this is another challenge and I will make sure I can do my best, to make New Zealand win this very important second test.

Cumming Out As Black Caps Make Solid Start

thumb_craig_cumming-379.jpg

Cumming was in great form.

Craig Cumming and Brendon McCullum made a very solid start getting a 50 run opening partnership, but the over after the 50 was brough up disaster struck. J.Taylor started off his 5th over with a bouncer that was hit straight to a fielder by Cumming. The next 3 balls were all out side the off stump and short, all of them Cumming tried to cut but missed by inch's. The 5th ball of the over was a bouncer that went crashing into Cummings rip-cage and he looked to be injured, but decided that he would see out the over and try recover while McCullum was on strike, however that was not to be as the next ball was full and outside the offstump Cumming tried a cover drive, but got the edge through to the keeper. This ended a great partnership and a nice 26 for Cumming.

oh deary me what a turn around for the windies in the first game

Not Again!

Matthew Sinclair's reaction after getting out first ball.

New Zealand's top order has not impressesd anyone this tour and they have once again shown why. At one stage the Black Caps were 50/0, they are now 69/3. Cumming's original wicket was acceptable as it was a great delivery, but the next two were not. Matthew Sinclair came in at number three looking full of confidence and ready to whack the red ball around, and thats exactly what he attempted to do with his first delivery. It was short and outside the offstump, Sinclair tried to cut it and it went straight to point for an easy catch. As Sinclair made his long walk back to the pavilion, Brendon McCullum lined up to take another ball. This time against the new spin bowler Mohammed, McCullum tried to give the ball a reverse sweep and picked out the fielder straight at 3rd slip who took an easy catch.

New Zealand are currently at 69/3 with Taylor and Astle at the crease.
