Why do Indian teams have the choice to take other players from there HOME team, it ruins the tournament, and TBH It has ruined the tournament. The only reason Central Districts made the Champions league was because of Ross Taylor, now they're flinged because of some pathetic Indian rule.

Way to stop a competition from being competitive, India

Because it's run by money grabbing Indians so they have to have first choice for everything.

Even Central Stags could have retained him by paying USD 200k:yes. Its not the INDIAN RULE/ something like that. Each and every member of the ACLT20 have agreed to the terms, which includes this rule. If your board is not interested with the current rule, they could have opt to pull out of ACLT20.

As it has been said before, why should any team have TO PAY to keep their own player? that's just bloudy lunacy, I doubt any NZ domestic team has a spare 200k going around just to be able to keep their players. It's just stupidity, just because not every T20 domestic competition has 845 overseas players in it that rakes in money by being able to sponsor the 3rd ball of the over and call it the 'Pepsi 3rd Ball'

Why personal preference here? Won't the team losing his services lose some of his extraordinary performances? Even South Australia have qualified for CLT20 only due to performances of Pollard.
Prove that the only reason South Australia qualified was because of Pollard. Last time I checked their were 11 players in a team.

I for one certainly hope it's not an IPL team that wins this, it would make me laugh incredibly hard especially as they even gave themselves 3 teams in the tournament. To not win what show what a joke it is.

Ollie_H added 3 Minutes and 48 Seconds later...

Nopes. Every team gets equal chance, according to the news I know. If a Player has clash in the preliminary squads, the one who wants him have to give 200k USD to his home team and get that player. As Taylor has multiple clashes, dunno what drama went in.

Tell ya what, Victoria got really effed over here didn't they! How do you explain losing their 3 best players? I'd love to be able to see the difference in revenue between an IPL side and the Vics, I bet that 200k will be a fairly large part of their income.

with modi gone, this rule might change next season maybe?? :(

it shows how money hungry the ipl teams are, it should'nt even be called the IndianPremier League. Whats the point when half the teams are filled with overseas players.

Reading your first posts it looks as if you had no idea whatsoever about what happens with the contracts, and it's only after DSB explained it you understood it even slightly... I was actually getting really annoyed about what you were posting about it, how stupid what you were saying was.

Central looks so crap without Taylor.

And even South Australia looks crap without Pollard!

All I said was that ACLT20 men want bucks. And Central & Victoria Bushrangers seemed to be bribed.

I knew what DSB was saying and I pretended to be a dumbo till the end cause ACLT20 will not change the things even if we keep on arguing till we die.

I don't know why everyone here are behaving as if the Central Stags is the only team to suffer. Same is the condition with South Australia, Victoria & Warriors. Victoria has some top class domestic players, who have bit of international experience, but Central, SA and Warriors don't have those.

As Riz said, lets hope that the Rule are un 'MODI'fied:).

South Australia are a crap team and didn't have anyone taken from them. They're still just terrible.
Victoria still have Hussey, Harwood, Hodge, McDonald, McKay, Nannes, Siddle and Wade.
Warriors still have Boucher, Botha, Boje, Theron, Ntini, and Tsotsobe

CD just have Oram.

Oram + Taylor would be an aggressive combination. But without him Central don't have what it takes to stand up to the others. Northern Districts or Auckland would have represented us better imo. Neither of them would have lost players, and they both have proven matchwinners in their sides.

How is it fair that the only team with international players are the India teams. And that they had to pay money to other teams in the tournament to have them there. That gives them an unfair advantage, especially because it weakens the other teams.

I hope that all the IPL teams get knocked out in the first round, and the semis contain Guyana, CD, Warriors and Victoria.

btw Central and Victoria aren't bribed, they had no choice in the matter. White and Taylor (and Warriors) had to go and play for the IPL team. That's what I find stupid. If the players qualify through their own domestic competition they should have every right to play for that team. If one of those players comes up against their domestic team they should just purposely play badly.

This is a stupid tournament.

the home teams of Jacques Kallis, Cameron White and Ross Taylor respectively - have been compensated US$200,000 each by the Bangalore franchise according to the tournament's rules.

I like this part :p

Pretty stupid rule that. Its pretty obvious White, Kallis and Taylor would have preferred to play for their own respective teams. Indian franchises should be backing their own players.

Another season without a Pakistan team. Would have loved to see Sialkot here and mind you they are a pretty strong team and would have been serious contenders. Imran Nazir, Shoaib Malik, Rana Naved, Abdul Razzaq, Mohammad Asif and Abdur Rehman are just a few of their big players. Not to mention they have owned every other Pakistani domestic team in the comp.

Pakistan is busy in playing for England, blocking few English players & Shahid Afridi to participate in CLT20, how can you expect your teams from your side? PCB was confusing the total world by saying "We won't allow our teams to play in CLT20" when players were left unsold in IPL. After the total schedule and format got fixed, they themselves started asking for place in CLT20. If PCB would have held its tongue after IPL auction, the Pakistani teams could have been participating in CLT20 as the officials were keen to make teams from Pakistan participate in initial stages.

@ Chewie: I agree that the rules are unfair, but everyone will have equal chance.

Its not if Taylor plays for Central, rules are fair/ If Taylor plays for RCB/VB, rules are unfair. Even Victoria lost Dirk Nannes last year. There are many such cases. I dunno why you all are highlighting only Central is the team with this problem.

Otago Volts (New Zealand Team) in previous edition retained Brendon McCullum (Their own player). Even Central could have retained Taylor. Both the teams are of New Zealand and both might have almost similar bank balances.

===
I strongly feel for Kevin Pietersen, Eoin Morgan and Shahid Afridi cause the scheduling of England VS Pakistan has been done in sucha way that the players cannot participate in CLT20 even in later stages. The ECB officials planned their schedule in sucha way that their 5 match ODI series starts on 10th September and ends on 22nd, with a gap of four days for an ODI and three days for another, which is absolute BS. This clearly mentions that ECB and PCB are just putting obstructions for their players by refraining them to play from CLT20.

Its not if Taylor plays for Central, rules are fair/ If Taylor plays for RCB/VB, rules are unfair
Um.. yes it is.

Central Districts could not have retained Taylor because for some reason Indian teams get first dibs on overseas players, if they're willing to pay the money. Since they can afford the $200k, they got Taylor. Central had no choice but to let Taylor go for the tournament. (I think it may have been a part of their IPL contracts as well)

McCullum is a slightly different matter in that he qualified for Otago and NSW, and not an IPL team. There was nothing in his contract with NSW that meant they could get priority, and McCullum didn't want to play for NSW so he played for Otago. Also NSW probably couldn't afford the $200k it would have to pay. It has nothing to do with the NZ domestic team's bank accounts

(I think it may have been a part of their IPL contracts as well)

it all comes down to this. individual players have to choose money over their own domestic side and soon their nation. I really hope that either Wayamba,Guyana or CD win because these teams have no overseas players.

It was probably set out that they would only receive the amount bidded on them if them accepted the contracts with that clause; they probably couldn't renegotiate out of it

Its not if Taylor plays for Central, rules are fair/ If Taylor plays for RCB/VB, rules are unfair.
Yes it is ! Maybe not unfair but utterly supidly retarded. Home players should play for home teams if they have qualified. End of story. I can't see how anybody could possibly disagree with that. And don't say we're acting like only CD is disadvantaged, because what I'm saying wouldn't advantage or disadvantage anyone, it would make the tournament more competitive and bring a hint of common sense to these morons who run the tournament.

To be honest, I don't really care who's playing for who and for how much money in a tournament that probably no one will remember in a couple of years. The thing that worries me more is the conflict of interest issues and the potential for match fixing.

Take Cameron White for example, and imagine if the Royal Challengers play Victoria in the final of the tournament. What's to stop White from playing poorly intentionally? Basically his competitive instinct and his integrity. Because in the back of his mind I'm sure he's more loyal to Victoria than the Challengers and if you asked him which team he'd rather give $1 million to, I'm sure he'd say the Vics - a team he's spent his whole career playing for, compared to an Indian team he's barely played for and may not even be playing for in a year or 2.

From the RCB point of view, they needed a replacement for KP and I'm sure the owners made it clear that money was no object so they were happy to shell out for White despite his lack of contribution during the IPL.
