Bulldogs win tough contest

The Western Bulldogs have beaten the Adelaide Crows this afternoon at the MCG by just 2 points in their Round 2 Clash of the AFL Season.
The Bulldogs were inaccurate throughout the match kicking 19 behinds to run away victorys in the end with their innacurate kicking at goal. But the Dogs were happy and took everything they got to beat the Crows, who played very well considering the trip to Melbourne. The Bulldogs didn't seem there usual self, they weren't running in packs, they weren't sharing the ball as the usually tend to do, and 2006 was a big season for them to develop as a running team, but today they didn't show that sign of any running they had developed.
But it was enough for the Dogs to take the win and they would be happy with that over a good team. Robert Murphy and Nathan Eagleton (2 midfielders) had to kick the goals for the Dogs today as they booted 2 each, while other midfielders, Gilbee and Giansiracusa made up the other numbers of goal kickers. The Dogs reling on alot of their midfield to kick a winning score.

The Crows had to have a midfielder kick their goals aswell to keep themselves in the contest. Last week the "tall men" dominated play for the Crows, but this week, they weren't to be seen. Midfielder Brent Reilly finished the day with 2 goals coming from the midfield, while Perrie, Defender Kris Massie had to play up forward to get a register on the board. Scotty Welsh, Matty Bode and Roo only managed 1 goal between them, not enough for the coach Neil Craig who showed his dissapointment after the match.

Andrew McLeod was sensational again through the defensive line of the ground for his team. McLeod picked up 40 possesions across Half Back (a Career High) for McLeod and would be loving the space and freedom he has coming from Half Back. He just sets his team up with his skill, reads of the ball coming down to the attacking teams 50. And his disposal to players coming forward from his own team, he could hit a bloke 50 metres away coming on a strong lead 9 times outta 10. He is just having a good start to the season and the Crows would love for him to continue on.

Power knock of Crows in close contest

The Port Adelaide have beaten the Adelaide Crows in their Round 3 clash at Aami Stadium by a small margin of 4 points. It was a close contest all night, but with the Power's accurate kicking, it gave them the edge of the Crows who kicked 13 behinds for the match.

The Match was dominated by Crows disposals and goals, more Crows players got higher stats then the Power players, but somehow the Power came away with the win. The Crows did stuff around with the ball alot, they kicked backwards, chipped the ball around their defensive 50, before they could start a fray forward. It frustrated fans, and thats why the Crows had more disposals and scoring shots then what the Power did.
Chad Cornes was sensational for the Power. Not only topping off their Goal Kicking for the evening kicking 2 goals, he also had 27 possesions playing across Half Back and into the midfield. His brother Kane, played through the midfield, and was the Powers main man through the guts. He also finished the night with 2 goals, so the Cornes brothers playing well for the Power.

For the Crows, they had more options to Goal, but they just couldn't get the right score on the board. They would of smashed the Power if they kicked straight, but the Crows need more practice at Training on their Goal Kicking. Small Foward, Matthew Bode was dangerous in front of Goal. You dont have to give this guy much oppourtunity to kick a goal, because he will hurt you every time. Bode nearly won the game off his own boot tonight, kicking 4 goals for the match, the highest for the evening.
Scotty Thompson featured in the Goals for the 1st time this season, going up Foward and was strong in the air. He finished with 2 goals, along with Captain Mark Ricciuto, who only had 4 possesions for the match but finished with 2 goals, and Scott Welsh, the main target up forward for the Crows kicked 2 goals aswell.

The Disposals were all dominated by the Crows. Andrew McLeod again was the highest on the field. The Veteran is still damaging the opponents with his speed, he even ran away from young speedster Danyle Pearce this evening, and i can safely say, he left him for dead. McLeod finished with 38 possesions from Half Back, and his other Veteran Teammate Simon Goodwin picked up 29 through the midfield. Matthew Bode who did kick 4 goals, also featured in the Crows highest Disposals, picking 22 possesions, it was a good overall game from the Small Forward who once did play for Port Adelaide, it would of been good to play good against his old side.
