Kiwis are there to prevent it But all the teams looking good, so must be a close matches through out... Even in last match, Windies crossed 300+ to chase around 400! So must be a tough challenge for all teams but i am confident abt my Kiwi team though as a coach
cheers sorry for not updateing yesterday but i've lots of school work to do, i may do the next match later, you can post your own media articles if you wish i enjoy reading them
IK: Hello and welcome to the first match in group B, here in Chennai, ahead of the game between Elegant England and Passionate Pakistan. This will be a great clash between two great teams. Joining me today are two bolwing legends who missed out on the teams through injury. I am joined by Bob Willis and the master of reverse swing Waquar Younis.
BW: Thank you Imran, and this looks to be a great clash between two great sides.
WY: As Bob has said this looks like a great tie between two evenly matched sides.
IK: Thank You gents for joining us, recently the two managers Jaz"the Man" and Trev came together at the official press conference and they had a great show and as we know they are great friends. They both announced their squads and both provided us with 2 strong batting line-ups. The main question on the English fans minds was that of would their poor run of form carry on, and whether Flintoff would bat at 8, and play mainly as a bowler or whether he may be promoted up the order.
BW: Yep it was a surprise to see Flintoff that far down the order, but if England are chasing a big score him and Botham could be promoted up the order to do some mighty hitting.
IK: On the pakistan front there was no real surprises apart from the fact that they are playing an extremely strong batting line-up, what do u make of the this Waquar?
WY: Well this decision is justified looking at the pitch and how the other teams have played so far. This chennai pitch has been renouned for its early bounce and it should be a thrilling contest.
IK: Ok thank you gents lets have a look at the teams in more detail.
ENGLAND
1. W.G Grace
2. Mike Gatting
3. David Gower (c)
4. Geoffrey Boycott
5. Alec Stewart (wk)
6. Mike Atherton
7. Ian Botham
8. Andrew Flintoff
9. Fred Trueman
10. Derick Underwood
11. Ray Illingworth
IK: What do u make of the team Bob
Gower, a key figure for England
BW: Well there is a great opening partnership with Gatting and Grace, two similar players who grind out the runs. If they bat well so will the team. Grace is not renouned for his ability in One Dayers, and he will be looking to score some runs in this format. Then you have Boycott and Gower who are fine players, great batsmen who will look to get on top of the pakistan attack. Especially with Gower as captain there will be a big responsiblity on him to do well. Then you have the men in the middle, if one of Atherton or STewart does well they will make the whole team do well. Next you have the two all rounders, the two big names. Flintoff's selection was contraversial so he will be out to show the tabloids, and we will know what to expect from these two, Wickets and Fireworks.
Then you have the bowlers Illingworth, Underwood and the speed demon trueman, who are guarenteed to take wickets between them.
PAKISTAN
Inzaman Ul-haq
Imran Khan(c)
Younis Khan
Mohammed Yousuf
Javed Miandad
Ijaz Ahmed
Saeed Anwar
Mushtaq Mohammad
Abdul Razzaq
Abdul Qadir
Wasim Akram
Qadir, spinning pakistan to victory
WY: Wow what a line up. They have a strong opening pair in Khan, who will bowl quickliy and take wickets. There is Inzaman who is guranteed to make runs, he is a class performer who usually shines. The problem is that neither have opened before so that may cause a problem or two. Then you have an excpetionally strong middle order, probably the best in the competition. With Khan and Yousef who have been 2 of the best over the year 2006. Miandad doesn't need any introduction he is perhaps the best pakistani batsman of all time. Then you have the powers of Anwar, Mohammed and Razzaq who will score runs and fast, they will provide the late order hitting. So they bat down to 9, then you have Qadir and Akram who are no slouches with the bat, but they will be the main two dangers with the ball. Wasim is the master of the new ball and Qadir is the old equivalent of Warne.
IK: Thank you gents, can i have your predictions please.
BW: Well i think an England win, they look the much better all round outfit, however the toss will be crucial if you win it bat, because the pitch will get worse and will be good for bowling later on.
WY: I think its going to be close, but i say an England win, due to the Pakistanis restricted bowling line up.
The Speed Demon
IK: Thank you for tuning into the Match Preview, hope you enjoyed it, join us soon for the game to begin.
For England, Snow instead of Underwood. But that's just cause I like John Snow better.
Pakistan is weak.
No Zaheer Abbas, amongst others. Razzaq doesn't belong, Younis doesn't belong, and Ijaz is borderline.
Quiz:
1) A
2) B

4) A
