Should England consider leaving Andrew Flintoff behind?

Its dunno, not dunnow. FFS.

They haven't jumped the gun, they are just speculating, its not like they are announcing it.
I like spelling it dunnow.

They've pretty much announced it. 'Flintoff to retire from Test cricket'. Not many other ways to interpret that...

Oh dear dear dear, the only cigar toking, beer skulling Pom who I actually admired...Going away from Test cricket. Bit early, but yeah, welcome to the Shane Watson club.

Sky Sports News are saying that it is expected that Flintoff will announce his retirement from Test Cricket at 11am this morning, however if he does, he'll retire at the end of the Ashes

Why, if he is to announce it now, is he announcing it now??

I picked the time to write this thread quite well! :p

I hope he waits until the end of the series to pack it in, I'm going to the 3rd Test and have never seen him play live. A legend of modern day English cricket.

I reckon it will be the end of the series, it will give him (and England) a massive boost, as he aims to finish on a high. I really think that it could play in our favour.

Interesting. He was never a great player but he is good, has heart and his performances from 2004 and 2005 are excellent.

I'm sick of players retiring from Test to play the shorter forms, would rather players retire from the shorter forms to play the Test matches. In some cases, possibly this one, that's just not possible, but for someone like Tendulkar, I really hope he follows that route because it's possible for him.

LOL! So i was right, KP. :p

He can't be serious, he can't retire from bowling and expect to be picked in Tests.

Never said you weren't =/ Pretty sure I meantioned on the 1st page that I expect him to retire from one form of the game in the near future.

Just checked, and I called it. First reply of the thread:

He's still got an ODi and T20 future, but think he needs to pull the plug on his Test career after this series is done

So really, I was right =]

Shame to see him retire, but his body's not up to the strain of 5 Day cricket anymore. We need to keep him for ODi's and T20's as he's still our best OD bowler. Broad will be in a year or two, but Fred's still our #1 as far as I'm concerned. You will be missed Fred!
