I use AVG. Been using it for the last year and it suits me just fine. It's free, light on ram, and runs quietly in the background as I do my day to day surfing. Also has a little green check mark next to all my Google searches to tell me that it's a safe site, and an exclamation point if it's dangerous. Runs scheduled scans every day at 6PM. Usually take a few hours but it deletes any questionable files promptly.
Don't need a full on Antivirus/firewall kind of deal tbh. I used to have Norton but soon found out that having that run is worse than a virus itself! Firefox+AVG is all you need, with a little common sense too.
