The forums need cutting down in my opinion.
Indeed they do, but really it has to be a matter of small steps.
In the survey we just ran, everyone on the face of it said, everything is fine as it is, don't change the layout. But afterward added in 'but you should do this...', and it left us with a lot of things to consider.
The main reason for this change was to have a more logical separation of the cricket games, it means that ICC is down 3 spots, and CC is down one on the original layout. But overall means every game is in a category that should make some sense. We didn't want to just move Cricket Revolution up and just keep making that section longer and longer.
There is a lot of longer term planning going on to try and increase discussion and attempt to resolve some of the issues with the forums as they are currently.
The huge amounts of different cricket leagues and fantasy competitions is something to work on, but that shouldn't be by picking one thing at the expense of others. The discussions on the future of the PCCL would have an impact here, and whether anything useful comes out of someone playing in 20 different leagues and stories at once. More to the point, whether anyone is able to navigate those areas and have any idea what they are doing.
Then of course there are important sections of the site that are really lagging in activity, or areas of the site that the PlanetCricket staff would like to see grow in activity.
There are also areas of the site that may well be killed off, NET&G I'm looking at you. But there are also other things like reevaluating the need for the Education forum, an option there I'd like to put out here is to turn it into a Yahoo Answers like section and just have question threads, on any matters (hopefully somewhat related to Cricket and Gaming). Moving the how are you doing at school stuff to General again.
Anyway, that's a huge lump of text for what could have been a simple answer of 'because I can'

. But if you do read it, feel free to comment on it, the only way the forums can improve for users is to know what you want and for us to work out the best way to deliver it.
