Ashes Cricket 2009 v1.1 Open Beta 2

Gee I hope not :|

Why not? some folks like Naved, Gul and Malinga can reverse a ball as early as the 18th over.

Plus it would be nice to have reverse swing online. I have not even seen it yet and have had the game since release.

I never play the AI, only play online and its not feasible to play 60 bloody overs online just to get reverse swing.

Meh, as long as it's restricted to these specialists I don't mind, I don't want to see Siddle or Watson reversing in a T20....

Once the ball is 60% old , reverse swing is available. So in an ODI you gotta wait for 38-42 overs for the reverse swing option to be available. In T20 the ball never gets that old , hence the option remains deactivated.

Thank you Kabooka!

There's no chance for compatibility with a PS2 controller is there, or even an option which allows you to change the controls?

And about the online chat system?

The Online Gameplay is not working in Beta 2 Patch

As far as I remember using the correct hardware a PS2 controller can easily be used on a PC

, as for the online chat , im not very optimistic about it.

Some feedback from me on the new beta patch:

Played ashes as England on hard.

Must say the game is MUCH more enjoyable now.

I find bowling to be a great, batting is waaayyy better. Lofted shots still go to the boundary but there now is a lot more risk in playing the shot.

When a batsman comes to the crease you cannot just start blazing away.... yes you may get 1 or 2 lucky boundaries, but chances are you will get out.

Batsmen should first play themselves in.

Aus batted first and got 471 - yes i dropped about 7 catches, close catching is difficult, outfield catches is a bit easier.

Batted and openers got 124 partnership, but then it all went a bit pear shaped for the English as i was all out for 202 and had to follow on. Only managed 131 in second innings.

I must practice bowling a bit more, as i got creamed.

Played on normal as well, but the ai seems a lot easier on normal. Got aus out for 94.

No more silly run outs. Bowling lengths are great. Ai seems to set fields at random, more often than not, the decisions are good regarding field placement. Just wish i could turn of the question and answer sounds, so that i can only have some of the commentary.....

Okay, i batted now on normal, is really too easy - imho. Standing at 40/0 after 2 overs, not playing lofted shots.

Yep that's what I thought and understood to be the case! Hopefully some nice improvements! We will have to be patient. I hope it comes online soon because I have got a free evening to indulge and ruin my bowling and batting averages!:)

Fingers crossed!

When I used open beta 1 the default roster changed to a new one, with watson moved to open the batting, and hauritz replacing hughes.

Now, it's gone back to original :| Am i alone?

I will say it again. Transmission you have to make sure that the middle order make decent contributions and don't collapse. Every codemasters game Ive played the middle order collapses every time. Please fix this, otherwise the game is unplayable, no matter how good it is.

Unplayable? :sarcasm

And we need more tail wagging from the AI (unless it's England :P).

You obviously didn't see the Ashes, or most recent England test cricket - the tail wags on a very regular basis now, indeed if that wasn't the case, we'd have lost at Cardiff and consequently lost the Ashes. ;)

Easy and Normal are pointless - you can easily charge along at 7 or 8 an over in that and still make a big innings. In hard, sure you might be able to slog for a while, but keep doing it and you'll get out cheaply.

Next game, I want to see Normal actually be worth playing, with a view to having another level to move up to. Right now, all levels other than Hard are too unrealistic.

If they're changing anything about online, I hope it's the inclusion of a chat room and the ability to save games online. No-one wants to play a test match in one sitting, but I'm sure people would be cool about a session by session basis - after all, that's only 30 overs.

Beta patch 2 issues

Well....
My thoughts on this Beta Patch are short and simple....

The Beta Patch 2 has added more problems than improving the game.

The following things I have noticed which are just too frustrating.

1. The Wicket Keeper misses every ball that spinner delivers when batsman fails to hit it.

2. Sometimes the Game freezes when ball is hit in the out field and cant even Alt + Tab to switch over to some thing else or just terminate the game. I have to simply restart to play the game again.

3. The throws from the outfielders are pathetic, they dont reach the bowlers or the wicket keepers end on atleast 2 or 3 bounces, the ball just crawls on the ground as if its just a formality to reach the keeper ot the bowler. LOL

4. How come there is no FREE HIT in 50 overs match. Is it a JOKE or WHAT .???

5. Field settings are not good at all , infact they are ridiculous for 20/20 and ODI's.

6. Difficulty level still remains a problem. its too easy to lob one for a six, even my mom can do it.

The Game Play is awesome but need to fix these issues.

I am happy with the game, I m sure a patch infuture will soon make this game better.

Fingers Crossed.

1. Don't agree with that - the keeper always takes spinner deliveries, that's why there are a lot of stumping chances. In fact, I don't remember the keeper missing one spinner's delivery...

2. Haven't had that happen to me, are your graphics drivers ok?

3. Don't agree.

4. Sure, it's an oversight that should be rectified, but I wouldn't call it a 'JOKE'.

5. Field setting need looking at.

6. Sure, but try slogging every ball for six and you won't make a very competitive innings, especially in tests.
