Ashes Cricket 2013 General Discussion

Oh wait this game is still happening? Back to the random thoughts thread. More promising

something happening.................flipkart megastore first time showing prices of pc and other console versions of the game but also showing coming soon....but even pc price is way too high rs. 1500..... interestingly I bought ashes 2009 for low as rs. 225....wondering how much this price gap will make difference in the quality of the game

About 3000 Rs for the ps3 version, is way to high as per our standards. I expected the game to be reasonably priced. The only good thing about the price being updated on flipkart means that it will release within a month at least for pc, but looking at the price, it is a bit turn off. It is just that we have not had a cricket game for ages so every one is going to pounce on it like animals even if it means emptying your pocket.

I am sorry but a PS3 game at Rs. 3000 (approx. USD 50) is reasonable priced considering the games sell for USD 69 or USD 59 in US. If they drop the price any lower people would simply start importing the game from India.

I guess what he meant was the price is a bit on the higher side for a relatively un-established franchise in India. I'd expected it to sell at around 1000-1200 INR. Doesn't matter anyway as I'm not getting more than one cricket game this year and definitely waiting for Cricket14.

Price for PS3 version is definitely on the higher side if you compare it with the other AAA games. The Last of Us, Watch Dogs etc are priced at 2700 INR. Gonna get a PC copy anyway as the mods a are our only hope with this game.

Expecting a newly released PS3 game to sell for $18-$20 is not realistic and frankly not sustainable for game developers/publishers.

Here we go again.... retailers can only go on what they are told... like June 21st (seems so long ago now...)

Game is not approved and therefore cannot be in manufacture and therefore cannot be shipped. (It can be sold :lol)

After they do pass submitting ross how long after can they release.

----------

Also ross they have a trailer coming soon, heard that somewhere before with ashes.:D

And also some screens coming soon and also an entire game coming soon. Its AC13 mate! ;)

I bought Ashes 2009 for 199 in Express Avenue here in Madras. But that was after 2 years ofcourse but with no great promises i dont think spending 1000 odd will be good.Lets wait for some official screenshots and videos first.:thumbs

Wait for Big ant Cricket would be my suggestion.....As that game would be an experience not just a game....Hope the price of BA Cricket is reasonable...:cheers
But from the Q&A video was expecting some screenshots and video which are not yet released.....

FIFA sells tons of copies priced similarly. India is not that big a football country either. What I would like to see is the fraction of console owners in India who are huge cricket fans. For some reason, I associate console fans in India to be more of the Premier League fanboy type. Maybe its just a perception. Most console owners in India can afford console games and there is hardly any piracy in console gaming in India and going by the general cricket following in India, even if half of India`s console gamer buy the game, cricket games would sell well. This is why it baffles me to see no cricket game being marketed properly in India. If games like FIFA, LA Noire, GTA or COD could get sold out from stores within a week of being on-shelf, there surely has to be a decent market. The only reason I can think of is that cricket is no more a big sport among the console owning population and football is!

The problem lies with the quality of product as well. You just can't start at that price outright without having had a decent reputation in making a video game of a sport which has had too many mediocre video games in the past. EA Cricket was just about getting popular by 2007 in India and I bet they would have sold much more copies with EA Cricket14 than FIFA14 here in India.
It all goes to start low, build up your name, and only then are you expected to sell a large number of copies for any game. Just as Ross said it, "I don't expect to make much profit out of the first game".
