Ashes Cricket General Discussion

Nobody is saying it doesn't happen: they are saying that if you get caught cheating then you should pay a heavy price. And that you shouldn't. To act like it's part of the game is pretty silly, and ESPECIALLY coming from someone who is playing the game themselves.

I've not played cricket at top class level, but I worked with the governing bodies for quite a few years and they're definitely not that cool with having their regulations broken.

Spot on

Plus this isn’t some random county or provincial game (still unnacceptable on every level)

This is an International Test with very well paid professionals (who should deal with the pressures) on the highest stage televised to millions around the world including young aspiring cricketers.

Blatant premeditated cheating.

I don't want to discourage the nice discussion which is going on here but can we post any further comments related to this topic(ball tampering) in cricket-discussion thread and keep this thread for BA's Ashes game ?

I understand where you're coming from, all i am saying there are lot more in cricket then what most people see, you cant judge a player on this, is not something as simple as you did this so your a bad cricketer or you should not play anymore. My last comment on this, its way to personaly for me to even comment on this forum. By the way chief thank you for being polite. Something this forum can do with.[DOUBLEPOST=1522062286][/DOUBLEPOST]

Agreed sorry for my 2 posts on this . Will not comment hereafter

Yes, and probability of it going for a maximum goes up when you are well settled, something that was missing earlier on, as you could clobber it for a maximum even when fresh at the crease. And in addition, you have some lovely flat sixes to drool over! :clap
Is there a change to how the confidence is gained?

A nice addition and on the wishlist for some time: you can now the toggle the hud in pro mode....see the ball better as it comes towards your feet!!!
Again sorry for the poor quality of my laptop!!

Just saw this, great addition. I went back to using pro camera last night in anticipation of this one, should be good. I've also started playing my career as just one player rather than the full team. Cheers for the update @Dutch

I joined this forum when I purchased DB17. Unfortunately, I only played that a handful of times before getting bored. The main things that put me off were how hard I was finding it to not get bowled out for 10 runs and how it wasn't immersive. On the first point there looks to be some new options added to make it a bit easier which is great. On the second point, I need your help to advise me on a few things. In DB17 I felt like I could set up an exhibition match or do a World Cup but there wasn't a full season mode (aside from the be a pro thing which I'm not interested in).

I'd like to play a full County season over a desired format, which I think I maybe could in DB17 but I found the interface clunky. Is this the case in Ashes (with real player downloads)? Also, and crucially, I want to tour as England and play their full season schedule but have player form visible from the County games to influence my squad selection. Is this possible?

I dont know if i have understood your question clearly mate, but if your asking can you sellect your England team from your county teams the awnser is NO. If you sellect England, your England squad is already given. But going forward that would be nice; if we can sellect a national team from domestic players . Ofcoz it sounds very complecated for a game and might be inviting many bugs

Hi Kass.

Yes sorry I wasn't very clear. Basically the main points were if I could select the England squad on some sort of in-game form? Also, what are the game modes available both Domestic and International? In the past I've found International cricket especially to feel like a series of friendlies rather than an engaging season mode.

This is very doable but I think you would have to create a competition to do it or there might even be a competition already set up that you can just add teams to.

Again you can do it with the real players, you'd just need to download the correct teams using the progress thread.

Considering the amount of time a season would take it would probably be worth the effort.

It might be a nice additional to the future a full season mode where you could select what formats you'd like to play (for example you could skip T20 if you wanted to and just play One day and first class).

So No mate you cant sellect from domestic teams and game modes are prity much the same as DBC17. But going forward, it would be supperb if you can add the management elements to the game as well. Like in international cricket captains. Not so sure how practical that will be !

Wouldn't it be real nice if we have the option to play as a specialist. As in only t20s or test. And another option to retire from a format. I know its way too much to ask and you can say am a dreamer, but am not the only one !

Retirement from formats in career is something I have always wanted...

One interesting thing I noticed from the upcoming World Tour Tennis game is that they are going to implement fatigue so you cannot play every tournament and match.

While I imagine this isn't to everyone's taste it would be interesting if you had to chose between playing the full season of IPL and missing some tests to pulling out of the Big Bash because you're player had played a full international season up to that point and needed to recuperate.

It could even be a setting you just turned on an off in the career mode set up. I suppose it would be like a hardcore mode in a survival game.
