Asia Cup 2014

Anyway yesterday we saw bangla playing well. They have improved a lot. They really gaved tough battle for india . But later kohli and rahane did well .

These guys don't have proper guidance. We have a joke of a bowling coach in Joe Dawes, and an even bigger joke in Duncan Fletcher. For a very long time now, whispers have only kept growing louder and louder about the roles that these guys play in the team backend.

And other bowling coaches in India (e.g. Prasad, etc) focus on accuracy even if it means dropping pace, etc. And these bowlers fade away. India's bowling problem is perennial. Its deeply engrained in the system, and it will take a lot of hard work to work at the root cause of the issue. But its possible since Pakistan (who were once part of India) produces good fast bowlers continuously.

Why doesn't India get a former genuine quick from the WI as a bowling coach? Any of the four horsemen of the WI would do, or anyone during that time, really. I don't understand going to county cricket of another country for a coach.

I saw shami bowling yorkers at last overs.

ya the bowlers had separate practice for bowling yorkers at dummies before match and shami seem to have picked it.

Aron and Yadav are speedy, but they are forgetting that controlled line and length is must. Shami is the future guys! Only if India had one more bowler like Shami, India would have been ruling world cricket. I pray India gets that bowler before world cup.

Sanjay bangar ?? bowling coach ? Is that for real?

BCCI losers are to be blamed. Its ridiculous to see that KKR can afford to get a legend like Wasim as their bowling coach, but BCCI have problems with shelling out 0.01% of their income to get a world class bowling coach ?

you are right but we can do nothing! Our coaches are worst!

I don't agree, the coaching is definitely the problem. You need someone like Allan Donald or Wasim, not some second rate Aussie (that goes for Dawes and Saker). Aaron and Yadav should both come good in time, provided they get the right coaching which unfortunately sounds like its not going to happen. Could end up with two more Ishants unfortunately.

I have a sneaky feeling Afghanistan will come very close to beating Pakistan.

See, this is the problem. Line and length can be taught but raw pace is a gift. These two guys have it. Yes, they have been wayward so far but will improve only if they are given a longer rope. For no reason, Ishant has been given the longest rope in the world. Why not these guys. The Indian think tank must take the gamble and give these guys license to bowl fast.

If Shami, Bhuvi, Aaron and Yadav can form a stable attack, we will do well in the years to come. If we don`t handle them right, we are going to end up with a few more Munafs/Irfans.

I agree with you to some extent, guys. But think, coach can only help you in nets. On the field, you have to perform yourself. They have talent but they are forgetting the basics on the field.

Give him a break. He's inexperienced. I think it's unfair to judge him this harshly based on one performance. Do you know how many breaks they've given to Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma? They're even giving Ashwin a break given how poorly he's bowled for 2 entire series. If he's erratic for a while and no improvement is seen despite him getting chances, that's when changes need to be made. However, Aaron just doesn't have experience. He hasn't bowled around the world. He hasn't had much international match practice. He hasn't had to save India's ass. He hasn't let India down yet. All of those experiences help in building character and fine-tune his mindset. I really hope Kohli picks him in the next match. It would seriously instill some confidence into the youngster.

I also love it that Aaron has said previously that he is completely unwilling to decrease his speed. It's required that he remains headstrong and trusts himself.

Unrelated, but I'm loving the fight that the two lesser teams are giving. Afghanistan has Pak down for 2/83 from 22 overs.

Edit: 89/4 wowww

As far as Varun Aaron is concerned, he needs a long run in Test and ODI cricket. With his pace, all he needs is advise and encouragement to keep at it. With time, he will learn more control without sacrificing pace.

I hope the Indian team management is revamped with Kohli as captain and a new coaching team in the future, negating favouritism and giving raw talent and performing players opportunities more than tried and tested failures.

On another note, wow... Afghanistan are quite impressive here. I love their competitive spirit on the field. If they keep doing well, they could well be a heavyweight in the not-too-far future, joining the likes of Bangladesh in Test cricket.

SHIT!! Pakistan in trouble now. Misbah was certainly going to be the most priced wicket for them and he's out out without troubling alot :p

Afghanistan players do not seem to be athletic, but they're quite strong by the looks of it. Will surely be a concern for in the field but as long as they perform like this and continue building on this momentum they will surely cause lots of troubles to the other teams, and esp Bangladesh!

As much as I've seen, their bowlers are pitching it way better than ours.

Hahaha... Afghanistan might just embarass Pakistan here...

Is this complacency? I think so... some atrocious cricket by Pakistan.
