Asia Cup 2022 - Sri Lanka (UAE)

But have the umpires always been right? We have also seen instances of the fielding team unable to pick up the snick due to external noise. So kudos to him for walking.

If it's a genuine dismissal then it stands to reason that the batsman should go back to the pavilion - more so when you, as a batsman, know that you've knicked it. It didn't look like India would have gone for a review, so that makes it that much more special on Zaman's part. In the end, having correct outcomes is what the sport would want.
I agree with you on this being a job for the umpires. Upon watching the replay it seemed very obvious that Zaman had nicked it and it was a surprise that the Indian side did not appeal straightaway. The batter also had the right to stand his ground in this scenario.

But as I said earlier though, I wouldn’t have expected anything different from Zaman as he is a truly classy player. Sometimes more than the outcome it is your actions that matter and give you a reputation. Five to ten years down the line he will still be remembered for walking off in a heated rivalry match in a continental tournament rather than any extra few runs he would have scored before being dismissed given how good the Indian bowling attack was yesterday.
As I said, on a human level, I respect him for his decision.
But from a competitive perspective, no need to walk. Take all the advantage that the rules give you.
I don't buy into this argument that sometimes you shouldn't take advantage of the rules because of "the spirit of the game". In that case, those rules that, when followed, cause a player to go against "the spirit of the game", should simply be changed.

Bummed that I missed such a big game (due to a friend's wedding). Was following it on Cricinfo, but the excitement was so high and kudos to Pakistan for bringing the game to the brink despite being on the tough end of "losing the toss in UAE" and scoring only 140 odd. I feel they could've repeated tat 152/0 thing if they had won the toss and bowled first.

From the highlights and the way the game unfolded, India looked scratchy. They were saved by Hardik Pandya, who keeps growing gigantically in stature. I watched the final 2 overs of the game live and the way Hardik handled it was such a delight! The way he gestured to DK "dont worry" after that dot ball and then nonchalantly swatted the next ball for six to finish the game was just pure EPIC!!!! Kinda reminded me of someone there..... :D:p:D And his bowling has actually gotten better than the pre-injury Pandya? Post the injury, he seems to be grabbing wickets by the bucketfuls. Most importantly, his body language and attitude on the field has undergone a sea change. Waiting to see when he officially becomes full time captain.

What kind of nonsense scheduling is this? Why is there an off day today?????? Afghanistan got a nice rest yesterday and could have played today. It is T20 and its time to modernize scheduling and not make it boring!

It’s UAE in August

So? I know temperatures can get extreme but they are not playing back to back and have a day in between. 1 day is enough to heal and regroup.

If your fitness levels are not great, sure why not :p! Atleast there will be something to blame on if you guys lose just like yesterday where it was Afridi nai khel raha tha warna India 50 pe all out tha..

Translation -- Afridi was not playing or else India was all out on 50.

Still a better excuse than "we lost the toss, that’s the only reason why we got spanked by 10 wickets" ;)

No TVs broken, we fought well, unlike India last year.
You gotta learn to take strides mate.

Still remember teenage you berserk back across the forums when Pak won CT17.

Reckon you still the same.

When you dish it out gotta learn to take it as well.

Just saying. Nothing personal just an observation about how you sometimes react.

No matter who was playing and 152 and all.. Bottom line is 147/10 :laughter:. Since the time India lost, world order was haywire.. Russia attacked Ukraine, abortion law in US was cancelled, Babar become number 1, the world order needed to be restored. I feel it will be!
