Story Auckland Aces World Tour - Bangladeshi Tour Complete!!!

:( Feel sorry for Auckland.
Got this really mean new manager called Callum Grey who's not bringing them any wins. :noway
Joking mate, you keep coming close with some brilliant individual performances but at the end of the day it seems like there hasn't been enough partnerships or real strike bowlers.
Keep it up mate and surely you'll start winning soon and bring some confidence to this team ;)

Toss

My Thoughts

First Innings

Again we got a pretty good start as their run rate hovered around four and over, but again it was them having wickets in hand that hurt us. At one stage I was thinking 225 would be a good score to restrict them to, but Afridi had other ideas. The likes of Shaw who had been so good in restricting Manzoor's runs, just got taken apart by who the call "Boom Boom". Mills once again was amazing, just by looking at his bowling figures you can see he's a mile ahead of the rest of our bowlers, and would be a contender for bowler of the series as he's the only bowler both out of us and Pakistan who's yet to concede more than 40 runs in a match.

Second Innings

We got off to a great start in our run chase, as Guptill started tonking everything to the fence. He was eventually dismissed earlier than I wanted, but Styris took over from where Guptill left off, launching three towering sixes in his half century. At one stage we were 186 for three, only needing around six an over for 15 overs with a batting powerplay in hand, but once again six an over was unchaseable as we folded to 225 for nine. This random guy I'd never heard of before the series Mohammad Hussain was again the toughest Pakistani bowler to get away, as he bowled his ten overs for only 24 runs.

Post Match

Again we weren't blown away, but again we fell quite a bit short of the the target compared with what we wanted to get. When Vincent comes back into the frame for the Bangladesh series, both us and Bangladesh should be pretty even. I'm hoping over the five days we end up being the better side, and in one or two of the shorter one day matches we can put together some good team performances. Kyle Mills continues to lead the MVP standings, but our leading batsmen Martin Guptill is fast closing. Scott Styris has now moved 17 points clear of Martin and Tuffey into third place.

Reece Young took a superb catch to dismiss man of the match Khurram Manzoor.

Shahid Afridi had some fun with the bat, clobbering 34 in next to no time.

losing three nil. :facepalm but in this last match there were too many wickets that fell at the wrong times.

Guptill, Mills and Styris have become fairly regular performers, but you need to get the team to fire as a unit still.
But they are doing well, as a domestic team from little old NZ, playing away from home in difficult countries to tour like Sri Lanka and Pakistan! Tbh, as a pessimistic New Zealand supporter I think Auckland are doing better than NZ would do in real life!

Team News

FFS, Kyle Mills, Rob Nicol and Anaru Kitchen were all ruled out due to injury. Mills pulled a hamstring, but on a positive he's pretty much a 100% chance of playing in all of the one day series. It will be touch and go whether Nicol and Kitchen will be ready for the one day series, they have a broken finger and another hamstring related injury respectively.

Toss

Auckland Aces won the toss and chose to bat first.

My Thoughts

First Innings

What a great batting effort by our top seven. de Boorder and Styris were outstanding, as they took apart the weak Bangladeshi attack. Our run rate may of been a bit slow, but to put 500 on the board and still only be five wickets down was a great effort by the boys.

Second Innings

Well well well, not much I can say after that bowling effort. Without Mills leading us we were mud, Martin was the only bowler who can say he bowled well, as everyone else got taken to by the two Bangladeshi openers. Nethula was good in patches, but was also plain useless at times. Hopkins even tried a bit of Lou Vincent, which actually turned out to be a success.

Third Innings

The match was pretty much going to be a draw at this stage, so we wanted to put some quick runs on the board and have another bowl at them for the last two sessions on day five. Guptill lead from the front blasting a quick hundred, while everyone else got a start but when they tried to up the tempo they got out.

Fourth Innings

Another poor bowling effort by our bowlers. We had given them a chaseable target of a little over 200 in one a half sessions, but they didn't take the bait and shut up shop. Once again the absence of easily our best bowler Mills took its toll, as only really Martin managed to beat the bat. The match ended in a tame draw.

Post Match

We went into the match looking for a win, but in the end climbing Mt Everest would of been easier than taking 20 wickets on that road. I said to the groundsman after the game he might as well of just stuck state highway one down for us to play on, and he didn't take it too well. But seriously 18 wickets in five days with two very very fragile batting line-ups, that's an average of one wicket a session, and that includes Bangaldesh's massive collapse. Tamim Iqbal was named man of the match for his 150, and for the first time this season Mills is no longer leading our MVP table.

Andrew de Boorder scored the first of five centuries in the match, mixing up solid defence with aggresion and flare.

It was a typical Scott Styris innings, as he pounded the Bangladeshi bowlers all over the place.

Tamim-Iqbal-006.jpg

Tamim Iqbal has taken Bangladeshi batting to a new level, with another man of the match preformace.

An under pressure Shahriar Nafees repaid faith in his selection, sharing an incredible opening partnership with Tamim Iqbal.

Chris_Martin_Cricket.jpg

Chris Martin Was the main man for the Aces in terms of bowling, as he took five wickets and operated at under two runs an over.

Martin Guptill plays a delicate leg glance on his way 112 in Auckland's second innings.

Chris Martin's got more batting MVP points than Daryl Tuffey, and Martin's played one less game. :laugh

How do you work out the mvp points :S

cool update dude.
Those Brooder and Styris were really good.
It was really hard for Aces bowlers to get the Tiger's openers.

Still well played Aces.

Who's this Tarun Nethula?

He's Auckland's main first class spin bowler.
I'm not sure if you'd noticed, but he's playing the five day games, while Hira's playing the one day games.
