Story Auckland Aces World Tour - Bangladeshi Tour Complete!!!

Aww, hard luck. The batsmen just didn't fire, and although Mills bowled well, there was never enough runs on the board.

Kyle Mills bowled brilliantly bad

Being picky here, but I think you meant "but." Otherwise you meant Mills bowled terribly, which is a bit harsh in my opinion!!

Guptill really is struggling here. Nice to see Kitchen amongst the runs, though.
Kiu!

My bad.
I read over the update a few times before I posted it, but due to that line being the last one I probably just switched off and skimmed over it.

Toss

Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first.

My Thoughts

First Innings

It was a much more positive start by our openers, but when their spinners came on they once again slowed things up. Four out of our top five batsmen managed to face at least 50 balls, but the sad thing was only one of them went on to score a fifty. Vincent and Styris both continued their good form with the bat, but everyone else again struggled to score at a decent rate in the testing Sri Lankan conditions. Vaas and Murali were both outstanding with the ball playing completely opposite roles, Vaas bowled his ten overs going wicketless but only conceding 32 runs, while Murali was expensive but took four vital wickets.

Second Innings

We needed early wickets defending a moderate to low total, but they never really came. Sanagakkara and Kapugedera set a good platform for their middle order batsmen to work off, and they obliged taking Sri Lanka to another easy one day victory. Roneel Hira was our major standout with the ball, but no one else managed to put the ball consistently in the right area.

Post Match

Once again it was a similar story, a lot of starts but no one managing to go on to the big three digits. Overall it was a pretty good first tour for us, managing to pick up a very good five day match win, but struggling to say the least in the three one day games. Next up we travel to Pakistan, which will be similar sort of test, in similar playing conditions. On a positive note our batsman of the Sri Lankan tour was Lou Vincent, while our bowler and player of the Sri Lankan tour was Kyle Mills.

Muttiah Muralitharan was the architect of another Sri Lankan victory picking up four Auckland scalps.

Roneel Hira impressed in his first start of the tour taking two for 36 off his ten overs.

Good to see Guptill getting some sort of score, and Kitchen and Vincent also getting a few. As for Hira, I've always thought he was a very handy bowler who hasn't quite lived up to his potential yet. Nice to see him getting a couple of wickets here!

Good effort by Roneel Hira on his debut in this tour. And why is Sri Lanka using Sanga instead of Dilshan as opener ? If they go on this way, they will face some serious problems in their upcomings. Though, of course, this is a New Zealand story!

It's because in the game Sangakkara is down as an opener, and Dilshan is down as simply a wicket-keeper-batsman.

Bad luck with that match :(

All I can say is it's ok, there's always next match :p

Like Chewie said in the game Sangakkara is down as an wicket-keeper opener, while Dilshan is down as a wicket-keeper batsman.

who are Auckland playing next?

newsflash-757208.jpg

There has been some more recent security concerns over the Aces tour to Pakistan, so it has been officially delayed by a week and a half.

The Auckland Aces security consultant on the ground over in Pakistan said that they currently do not have the required amount of policemen in-place for the tour to go ahead, and the production on the Aces armored buses needed for them to travel around in has been delayed.

The tour is expected to being on Friday next week.

P.S. I have exams over the next week and a half.
