Update on the Aussie second innings

The australians got off to a terrible start,losing Langer in the first over for 2.But then Haydos and Punter steadied the innings and took the score to 184/1.Haydos is on 92 and Punter on 88.Australia look in a superb postion to win the match.Pics will come tonight.

Overview of innings

The aussies got off to a bad start,losing langer early for 2.But Hayden and Ponting saved the innings,taking the aussies to 199/1,until haydos was bowled of styris for 93.Marto came in,played some shots,but then was caught at gully for 11.The day was coming to a close,so the aussies decide to bring in Gillespie as night watchman.But he fails,and he is caught behind for 1.Clarke comes in and plays a few confident shots,but then he gets out for 11,bringing in Katich.Ponting takes over and plays many,many remarkable shots,reaching 130 before the day is brought to a close.The australians are in a very strong position and should look to win the match easily.

Dean-Well Geoffrey it was a good day for the aussies,wasn't it?

Geoffrey-Yes Dean it definetely was a good day for the aussies,but I think they will be a little disappointed,losing so many wickets in the last few overs of the day.

Dean-And what do you think of Ponting so far?

Geoffrey-Well Ponting started of slowly and he reached his 100 of exactly 200 balls.But after the wickets started falling around him,he played the big shots,and they worked,too.So far it has been a brialliant innings by him.He paced his innings perfectly,accelerated at the right time,and knew when to defend.He should now look to play the rest of the aussie innings.

Dean-And what do you think of the nz bowlers?

Geoffrey-Well Martin did not bowl all that well,but Tuffey,who took Langer's wicket early,really maintained the pressure on Hayden and Ponting.I don't know why Butler got just 4 overs to bowl.And Vettori did bowl well,yes,but this time round,the aussies knew how to play him.Oram bowled very well,taking 1 wicket,but the pick of the bowlers was Styris.He took 3 wickets,and bowled very economically.Fleming should depend on him and Oram to get the wickets tomorrow.

The Aussies continued their fine form and are now on 363/5.Ponting is now on 194 and Katich is on 29.I will post the pics tomorrow.

Woho! Ponting on 194...should easily get to a double century now. Aussies in a very good position.
