The SCG is filed with the sounds of clapping and the screams of delight from Rudi Cruss as he gets his maiden OD fifty. He got it off a brilliant square cut that evaded Glenn McGrath at backward point and went to the rope.

Matt West- 3* (8)

The opener didn't stop there. He added two more boundaries against O'keefe. This, an amazing sweep shot that beat everyone.

And, New Zealand's problems started to mount up when captain Matt West decided to play a shot that ended up in his middle stump being caught by Haddin. He scored 6 runs off of 18 balls. But, that wasn't the main problem New Zealand were facing...Yes...The Mackster has come in to bat. Cruss put his head in his hands when he saw who was joining him. Who would blame him? Let's hope the Vice-Captain can do better than the captain.

DOH!!! well that explains why my average is only 21.??? doesn't it.

A small downfall is fast turning into a huge collapse. Rudi Cruss totally misjudged the topspinner and found himself walking back to the pavilion. Bowled for 65 off 69 balls with 10 fours.

So. Who is the new man I hear you ask? Well hear he is.

Treva Teague has come to join in the fun. Let's hope for the sake of New Zealand that these cocky batsmen can drag New Zealand over the finishing line.

Teague has hit 2 successive boundaries off of his first 2 deliveries in proffesional cricket. He has moved on to 9 off of 3 balls.

This is how you play it, Skipper! Dan Mackie playing a perfect flick through mid wicket for four.

Victory is ours! Dan Mackie scores a boundary and a single. New Zealand look fairly happy about this win.

New Zealand Press Conference

New Zealand hosted a press conference after their first tour match against New South Wales. Coach Connor had to day this about the match:
"We played well in our first match as a team. There are still a lot of things to work on, though. Such as, not losing wickets at important times etc," When asked of how he thought his captain did he answered: "We can't judge someone after one performance. He is a good player and he still has the captaincy. I feel great for both Simon and Manee who performed incredibly well for us today." He was then asked of what chance his team have against The Commonwealth Bank ODI team and in the VB series altogether.
"I'm fairly confident of getting to the final of the VB Series as England are a poor one day outfit. The Commonwealth Bank ODI team, however, will prove much tougher opposition. Especially as they are the new look New Zealand side's first game."

Matt West and Simon Ba/rrow/zzking/zzqueen were also questioned on the team's performance.
"I believe that we performed well today, and that we can beat the Commonwealth Bank ODI team next week," said Matt West "We've been training hard and we deserve to get something out of the game."

Simon Ba/rrow/zzking/zzqueen/zzman was pleased with his Man of the Match.
"It's great to get a few wickets in the first game. It's really calmed me down. I think we can give a few teams a run for their money. Manee bowled extremely well too today and he deserves to be praised."

So, the end of the Press Conference, and we know that New Zealand are confident of winning the VB Series. In which, they will have to work very hard.
