Damn, its apparantly getting dark. Dizzy has just been gifted 4 runs. COME ON DIZZY!! Just another 20 runs needed for him.

Australia really shouldn't take the light anyway.

Dizzy has been competant with the bat but is still yet to prove himself with the ball.

Isn't this the last test series before the ashes? If they are going to bring him back in for the ashes they have left it too late. Not enough test matches under the belt, a lack of wickets and im sure he'll get pasted by the english batsman again. yes there is time to play him in the one dayers, but it is a different game.

Watson, Symonds, Bracken and Tait will make the difference. If Australia is to win the ashes they need these guys to play and perform. In my opinion Bracken is highly under-rated and should get the nod ahead of Gillespie any day.

lol wtf. Gillespie will be in the Ashes team. He was going through some complications in his life in England and now after being dropped and having more time off he has come back thirsty. There were bombs going off, he had his child. etc.

You can't be serious. Tait and Watson shouldn't be selected. They havn't played recently. Bracken probably is only an emergancy option. I think its quite obvious that Gillespie is playing these games to see if he can fill that Ashes bowling spot. So far he hasn't done his hopes any worse at all.

Some people expect him to go just as bad. Things have changed since then.

I'm happy enough with Dizzy's performance on some dead flat pitches. Hes also shown good form in the domestic comp.

The problem you mentioned is the guys you listed (Watson, Tait etc) also haven't had enough test matches under their belts. I'd bring Dizzy back, with McGrath and Lee. Symonds or Watson to take the all rounders spot. Bracken is handy on the swinging wickets but not tested on other wickets.

Dizzy is on fire!!! He probably can do it Hope Lee comes in as a night watchman if they need and require one :D

Lol OMG two nightwatch men batting together now that would be funny :)
Dizzy's test will come when he is in the 90s. Good thing is Dizzy won't have to change anything cause he always scores slow :p

I think that Watson, Tait and Bracken bring something different to the team and that is what we need to beat england.

I think you are right in saying Gillespie hasn't done his chances any harm. But you can't say that Bracken has done anything wrong either, and i think in that case the fact that he is left-armed and swings the new ball gives the aussie attack something differen't. Whereas Gillespie is a hit the seam bowler who needs a good pitch to even trouble the batsman. A poor mans McGrath.

Dizzy is in the 90s :) Hussey is nearly lapping him, probably might even score a 100 before Dizzy.

Still don't know what Watson would offer, it would be a huge risk to chuck him in the big time with no test matches lately.
Gillespie seemed to do well on a flat pitch in the first test. Clark is a seam bowler and he couldn't do what he did in SA.

Come on Gillespie! If he gets a century it'll be his first ever century in his cricketing career, for me Gillespie has really impressed on the tour so far and certainly deserves to be a regular in Australlia's Test Squad.

Judging by current standings, I'd be taking

McGrath (availability pending)

Lee - A good long rest and plenty of time to practice Wasim Akram's advice should see 06-07 as Lee's greatest season of cricket to date.

Bracken - if they can put blind faith in Stuart Clark, they can give a little more credit to this guy. He's a dangerous player in First Class cricket, an emerging star in the ODIs and while his Test record is unenviable, all it lacks is a couple of wickets.

Gillespie - I'd still rather Bracken than Gillespie, just because of variety's sake, but all things considered they should decide who gets the spot by single combat.

Tait - Gets the backup postion ahead of Clark, who would probably be a good fourth quick, but nowhere near as exciting. Tait would probably jump ahead of Gillespie in the ODI squad too.

Yes but Gillespie hasn't just impressed with his bowling skills, he has also proven himself to be a good batsman on the tour of Bangladesh

26, 4*, now a maiden test century, (well probably), and his bowling figures look good aswell.

Stick with the 7+4 combination and the part-time bowlers. Worked for Sri Lanka & South Africa pretty well.
