Australia in India

I think Dravid needs more balls to try and get himself in and develop an innings.

Maybe India could try Dravid in a Hussey-type role?

You cant just walk up to Dravid and go "Your playing a Hussey type role today, succeed at all costs". The role Hussey plays is a delicate one, he must be able to bat with the tail, hit big runs early in his innings, try and build partnerships etc..

Finding a Hussey is dam hard, I thought we were going to wait decades before finding our new Bevan but out came Hussey. Looking at Haddin form lately he could be our next Hussey.

Oh i just thought Dravid was the nudger and nurdler type player so 1 department is covered. But i don't see him as that big a hitter so you could complement him there with dhoni down the order.

Thats utter nonsense india have been out played by australia they are not a weak team but australia is a very good team.
Australia is an incredible team, but India is also a weak team. Look at their recent performances in ODIs - Losing a series in England, Winning a series in Bangladesh, Losing in the 1st round of the world cup, and they're probably going to lose a series against Australia at home now. All three of Australia's victories have been by a large margin. India did a poor job of chasing and bowling.

First odi-i do not think many teams would have recovered from 90-4 to get 300
In a similar way, I don't think many bowling attacks in the world allow teams to recover like that consistently. India clearly have a problem in their bowling in the middle overs, which allows this to happen pretty often.

second odi-Again the same thing
And the same argument from me too.

third odi-When yuvraj and dhoni were going great still they kept attackin
Thats good, but we still lost. So what's your point? I mean, even your sig says "Winning isn't everything; it's the only thing"

fourth odi - we won:D
Yay! It's not gonna be a whitewash!

fifth odi-It wasa off day for india but brett lee was great everybody may heap praise on johnson but i think brett lee was the best bowler of the day.
Off day...right. It seems like India has way too many 'off days.' Call it whatever you want, I call it inconsistency.

No body is irreplaceble if dravid has not performd in 5 matches he should be rested and rohit sharma or badrinath should play, its simple players in form play.
They wont do that. He just gave up his captaincy. It'd be too bad for his morale, and he'd be too valuable of a player to go through something like that. I'm not talking about my personal opinion, but what the selectors are probably thinking.

Are you out of your mind questioning yuvraj he has been in sublime form
I've read my post twice. I still can't see when I questioned Yuvraj. I went through every batsman and stated why they needed to be on the team. When I came to Yuvraj, I said that he's been in good form since the twenty20's and we need him on the field.

Zaheer khan should be rested for odis he does not field well so sreesanth who is our strike bowler should play.
Have you seen how much Sreesanth gets creamed against Australia or have you forgotten?

I do not see it as a glaring flaw when he comes in first he does push his front foot many batsman including ricky ponting do it,its not a flaw but
his style .he has got runs against australia in the series so no need to change his batting order.
Just because its his 'style' doesnt mean that it cant be a flaw as well. It's a flaw because it makes him susceptible to LBW's.

First of all, Piyush Chawla has been ruled out of the entire series due to his injury that he picked up in the Twenty20 world cup (without playing!).

Dravid cant be our Hussey. He can hit some big shots and can score briskly, but I dont believe in him being a Hussey type player at this stage of his career where he is walking into the sunset. We have our finisher in Dhoni. He is also the captain now and with more responsibilities, he has started playign more maturely (he played a bit maturely even when not being captain!) and he can hit the big shots whenever required.

I dont just see the rotation policy coming in. Its for the players to decide when to leave and when to play. And they will choose to play. So I feel we will be able to see what the next generation India has to offer in ODI's only after the seniors retire themselves. The selectors are simply there as puppets, being managed in the backstage by the board. We love to please people.

I am gonna cheer the home team on the ground tomorrow.

Oh great! Take some board with you, and tell us what the board is going to be so that we can identify you!

No offense to any touchy fans, but it's gotta bring a smile to your face.

Finding a Hussey is dam hard, I thought we were going to wait decades before finding our new Bevan but out came Hussey. Looking at Haddin form lately he could be our next Hussey.
Hussey's still not a Bevan, though.

I think the biggest key to having a Hussey-type player is footwork, particularly moving out of the crease. A player with tight footwork can outsmart a bowler very quickly. Late in the game, there will be no slip and a player can use his feet often with little risk, particularly when the ball angled across the batsman.

The next key is strength of shots; there are many batsmen who aren't aggressive, but only because they are looking to play pure shots. Not every slow scorer is a nurdler. His first key shot is the cover drive. When the bowler is bowling a length outside off, the combination of a charge and a thumping drive through extra cover upsets bowlers no end. He is also very, very strong through midwicket. He hits very well on the pull, better on the slog sweep, plus he knows his areas for getting agricultural.

The last key is those feet again and running between wickets. As I said, not every slow scorer is a nurdler and you will actually find the player who picks gaps and tests fielders to be as convincing as the heavyweight going for boundaries. Being light on your feet is key to batting with the tail, because you can farm the strike. As long as the singles come in, the death specialist batsman need not manufacture a boundary more than once an over. Not every 33+ player is slow either and there is definitely room for ageing players.
