I think Hussey has a chance as well because he's definately under-estimated. If he was picked earlier in his early 20's he would have been the best batsmen of all time. He always gets high scores but never gets a proper chance too come in and take his time since he usually bats with tailenders.
I think that that's a little bit fast. Hussey is good, no doubt, but he's not even our best batsman in my opinion. Ponting is better. And certainly Bradman is the best batsman of all time.

Hussey only averaged in the mid 40's in Australian domestic cricket his entire career.

A lot of players to choose from! I think Hayden should have some say like about how he worked well with say "Kato" but had a torrid time with "Jacques", etc. etc. Personally, Australia should get someone a bit young (how old is rogers?). Nurturing a captain is important. Clarke is a blessing because i see another ponting in the making (i believe ponting wasn't as good as clarke back when he was the same age, might check cricinfo on that). Any opener is the domestic league who are under 25?

EDIT: Clarke, 26, played 27 tests has 1512 runs averaging 42.
Ponting, 19-26, played 42 tests had 2492 runs averaging 47.
Lol, ponting ripped clarke's ass... but to be honest ponting had an extra 2 years + his best season is equivalent to the upcoming season for clarke so there maybe life in my belief...

Rogers turns 30 this month.

Hmmm, well, I guess Clarke was better in the sense that he scored a hundred on debut and Punter got like 96 or something:p

Not any ready for Test cricket this summer, Tim Paine looks good (Tasmanian) but he needs another season in FC cricket to see.

Chris Rogers is pretty amazing, look:

Strangely, Rogers is short-sighted and colour blind, which means he sometimes struggles to focus on the red ball when it mixes with the background colours.

Is Rogers colour blind? Thats weird. Timmy Paine needs at least another year in first class season.

Clarke isn't in the same class as Ponting. Ponting had allot of personal issues at the start of his career but got them sorted out.

On the otherhand, Ponting dominated the Australian domestic scene since the age of 17 & averages 60 in FC cricket playing in Australia whilst Clarke averages in the low 40's.
