Australia tour of New Zealand 2010

Well, he is the future alright. Having said that, does he have better skills than North at making runs when its 4 for not many? I'm not so sure, but only the best technical players thrive in tough conditions, so harsh to judge North in a bad light there. Smith is a flashy player too.

Hopefully Ross Taylor stays at three after this game, it would allow us to play:

1.Jesse Ryder
2.Martin Guptill
3.Ross Taylor
4.Scott Styris
5.Grant Elliott
6.Shanan Stewart
7.Brendon McCullum
8.Daniel Vettori
9.Kyle Mills
10.Tim Southee
11.Shane Bond

That would give us a much better balanced team I reckon, plus we'd have guys like Watling, Tuffey, Hopkins, Franklin and Oram waiting in the wings.

I would say even McGrath could do better than North has done so far when coming in at 4 for nothing :p His best score in that situation is 10. Based on what Smith has done for NSW I believe he can. Hes come in at 3/45 against Queensland and made 49 and 3/59 against Victoria and made 129. Add to that his FRC knock against Tassie when all the big guns failed leaving Smith to make 81 and get a competitive 271.

Well, I agree, I would pick him, not because of North's form slump but on Smith's crazy run of great form. Irresistible case for selection.

Sadly our selectors will probably use their have faith in your player method.

Poor Harris he bowled a good over, but those overthrows killed it.

I thought this thred would be up and at it with McCullum and Guptill giving NZ such a good start. And just as I'm writing this Guptill is out. :( Damn Watson and his ability to take wickets when NZ are going along well.

I'm waiting to see how Stewart will fare against this Aussie attack. I suppose he'll do better than Ingram and his no-footwork-ness.

Was starting to get worried with Watson getting smashed but that wicket will help slow down that run rate. Bollinger has been crap this tour, half volleys, short balls and no balls and his pace is down. Now looking good for the Test series if he keeps this form up.

So far so good. Like the new line up a lot better. Hope Stewart goes well on Debut.

Long may this continue. Wanna see another good contest.
