What should happen in the future is Clarke gets dropped from OD and T20 but stays captain of tests(in around 2 years he'll captain test).
I"m not gonna enjoy the time when Clarke's captain- Ive always enjoyed all the Aussie captains since Border's reign.
Two question for NZ fans.
- Why is Neil Broom near the ODI & T20 set-up?
- Why is Franklin batting in the top 6?
Because our selectors like to try guys out in one day cricket first if they can, it's not something I agree with though.
Any idea why Kane Williamson's not been given a go yet Hows? That run of scores in your sig is just incredible, he may be young, but I think it's pretty safe to say he's a better player than Broom and although he's done ok, probably Ingram too. Think they should have given the lad a go in this series.
Hmm, weird. Why i ask is because watching the the progress of these two players in the last 2 years i'm not sure what use they have to be honest.
Firstly Franklyn. Well firstly i remember him as left-arm swing bowler (remembering him taking a 6 wicket haul vs AUS in 2005). But then last year vs India in 3 test i saw he was batting in the top 6 - now he is batting in the top 5 in this current ODI series. I understand domestically in NZ he is batting well in top 6 (plus i know he replicated that here in England in our Division 2 competition).
But its pretty obvious he aint an international quality top 6 bat ATS. So if his bowling has declined, plus he can't translate his domestic top-order batting @ international level. He seems fairly useless for NZ to me.
On Broom. Everytime i see him, his fielding alone impresses. His batting doesn't look international standard also.
Age, and this big fear that if he plays he might be mentally scarred, quite ridiculous IMO. He scored a 100 last season against Shane Bond and Canterbury so it's not like he hasn't faced express bowlers before. He's the best batsmen in domestic cricket, age shouldn't be a factor AFAIC.
From what I've seen of Franklin over the past year and a half is that he struggles against guys with extra pace. His footwork really isn't that great and he pokes and prodes a lot outside off stump. His bowling though has basically got to a level of a part-timer, he'd be lucky to hit 130K these days.
Broom, yeah he's been rather poor. But I still have high hopes for him. He's always been mentioned as one of the better batsmen going around the domestic scene and averaging mid 40's playing down in Dunedin is nothing to scoff at. Watched him make a 100 a few years back where Otago only made 210 and he rarely looked troubled, I really think his technique is up to international standard it's just that he's a pretty average one day player.

"D/L method made it tougher" No it didnt. You were able to catch up and needed run a ball. Its not like you needed 13 from 3 ball. Its that shot you played. you could have done what you did to Mitch's last over.
