Australia tour of New Zealand 2010

Shame on the OZ. they let a weak, broken team get this close. NZ was missing half the players already. and from that, they were missing couple more. NZ won the game in a away.

I would go with this side for the 3rd ODI:

McCullum
Ingram
Guptill
Taylor
Williamson
Styris
Hopkins
Vettori
Tuffey
Southee
Bond

Can say the same thing about me and Franklin.

Broom has been given a fair run and should probably be dropped now. Franklin has been in and out of the team more and I reckon he should be given until the end of the series with a lower batting slot if hes still under performing then he should be dropped as well.

Taylor in for Broom and Williamson in for Hopkins are the changes I would make for the 3rd ODI.

McCullum
Ingram
Guptill
Taylor
Williamson
Styris
Franklin
Vettori
Tuffey
Southee
Bond

Is what I am realistically hoping for.

The only thing with playing Franklin at seven is that his bowling actually has to be decent, which really doesn't look to be the case at the moment.

Oram's out for at least a month I think. Franklin didn't bowl badly in the first ODI...

Since coming back from injury he's yet to bowl his full amount of overs, something a number seven batsmen has to be able to do. He bowled well during the first ODI but that's only one game.

It was good in Napier and if you take out White's two 6's which would have been caught at any other ground it wasn't to bad today either. He is still inconsistent but seems to be improving you couldn't really bank on Styris or Williamson to be any cheaper. We don't really have a 5th bowler we can be sure to get 10 good overs out of a few different options is always good to have.

Ari added 3 Minutes and 55 Seconds later...

Rubbish unless we want to play another pure bowler which will cripple our batting lineup further.

Oram and Franklin are minor players, they miss Grant Elliott more than what they've been doing lately. Although they do need another all-rounder, the matchwinners are the ones they need to keep on the park. With Taylor and Vettori currently tag teaming, they wouldn't want Bond or McCullum to feel a little tweak.

Styris I would, he's still a pretty good one day bowler IMO. But picking guys like Oram and Franklin just because they can bowl a little bit and hit big at the end is never a good thing, I actually think it weakens a team tbh. Playing at seven you should be able to do at least one thing pretty well.

Its a difficult one but as far as I am concerned and I think you will agree with me we can't add another pure bowler at this time the batting is just not good enough which means if we arn't playing a Franklin/Oram we have to go for another batsman ok thats fine but my concern is when someone like Styris starts going the distance we don't really have anyone we can turn to Guptill/Williamson I wouldn't trust as reliable options at this time.

Guess we are missing Ryder and Elliott for more than just their batting right now. Until one of them comes back I feel we need to play Franklin/Oram.

That's where Ryder/Elliot are so good, as they are both bat as well as batsmen, and can also get through very useful over's.

NZ have done really well to restrict Aus to these mid 270 totals, NZ are such a scrapping team- they seem to never win easily, always scrapping to the end to win. They need to continue to stop Aus playing their best ideal game.

How much longer is Jesse Ryder going to be injured? He has been out for an eternity.

Gotta say Ryder is an amazing talent, I loved his batting vs England last year, so effortless, he is one player I can see really getting up the Aussies, McMillan-style.
