Australia tour of New Zealand 2010

if Guptil doesnt do what he did to us, NZ will be screwed. They need another Guptil in the line up. And when is Ryder coming back?

I think Ryder is targeting a May return during the World T20. I will be nice to have him back. And really we need the entire NZ top order to fire. But I highly doubt that will happen, especially against Australia.

The overall issue with his selection was the fact that his batting clearly wasn't test match number 6 quality. It affected the balance of the side & AUS got away with that stupid selection in Sydney. Australia should have played debuted North @ 6 & Hilfenhaus instead of McDonald & Hauritz in that SCG test.

In South Africa, as the selectors made the idotic choice to pick him as one of 4 MAIN-bowlers. Thankfully the pace-trio stepped up fantastically to mask those cracks.

Half agree with your reply, but how Andrew McDonald and Dirk Nannes fit into the team is very irrelevant to this thread anyway. But I just wanted to mention the irony that all the selections you called idiot were in all the Tests we won :laugh Not bagging you - it's just funny.

The media is really making a big deal of Clarke. CH9 just had a news segment on him with the big headline "Clarke Speaks". OMFG who really cares :facepalm

Word. Damn those Women's Day reading, Dr Phil and The View watching stay at home mothers who love their gossip... They're driving a train that has no business being on the tracks.

Latest news- Peter George has been put on standby for the Wellington test. Ryan Harris not recovering so well.

How does that logic work, exactly?
As in, Kane is in form now right? But they're not picking him?

Say they pick him a year from now, when he's not in such great form and does badly, NZ will look like idiots.

George is very lucky that he's not playing in the Shield final.

Fair enough. But the selectors can make idiot selection & still win test especially if lets say the other members of the team are good enough to mask over the ineffectiveness of one player.

Playing Lee throughout the 2001 Ashes & not dropping him for Fleming is the best example.

Stats and trivia
# Mitchell Johnson and Chris Martin have each picked up 14 wickets in Australia-New Zealand Tests, but Johnson has done it in two games at an average of 11, while Martin has taken eight matches at 74.14
# Daniel Vettori has the most Test runs, centuries, fifties and wickets of anyone in the New Zealand side

Hmm, Australia v Daniel Vettori then.

One thing that I'm still not happy about are McIntosh and Watling as NZs openers. I'm guessing they'll both be out before the 10th over. Not surprised if we lose a wicket in the first over of NZs innings.

It sounds like it will be Brent Arnel who will come into the team as the 5th bowler, must say he's deserved his test cap if he does indeed debut tommorow.
