Australia tour of South Africa, 2008/09

I don't think overcast weather means much unless the pitch already has moisture in it. They've bowled better today than day 1, but while yesterday the short ball for either team was a tricky proposition, today's short ball has sat up to be hit all too often. Hughes has been restricted through a tighter line, but he is still out there.

Hughes seems to be the real deal. Knows how to attack, knows how to pace himself. 400 runs, 9 wickets in 2 days and a session. Is it safe to say this is in the bag? Heh. This makes the Ashes so much more anticipated.

Really impressed by this knock from hughes i wasnt sure how he would go if his free scoring was slowed down.
But hes still out there cmon hughes get back to back centuries

It has been a perfect day for us so far. 2 wickets in 3 balls this morning and now we are batting them out of the game in style. Both punter and Hughes going along very nicely. Hopefully these two can get tons and push that lead well over 500. I reckon we could have another hour of slogging tommorrow morning and let them bat for 5 and half sessions (chasing 500-600).

Another session of batting, finish the day on 520. Knowing Ponting, he'll always make sure they're done and dusted before they declare. Generally you'd say 300 runs in a day, so 600 in about 5 sessions would be a lot harder.

I agree we should not declare tonight.
Yes our lead is huge but there is still 2 whole days to go after this day.
England take note if u want to win games an be in positions where all that can happen is you win or draw the game, you need to score quicker an be more aggresive.

If we can be 203-1 there is no reason that SA cant do the same.
So be safe bat all day today, come out tomorrow an have some fun look to slog it around.

Ponting is getting out a lot due to that pull shot. At least he has the courage to continue to use it knowing it is bound to click sooner or later.

And Hughes breaks a record in his 2nd test being the youngsters player to score back to back 100s. Also funny how the commentators say he is an attacking player, this inns is how he usually plays. Lastly he has now brought up his 100 with a 6 and a 4, just needs to do it with a 3, 2 and 1 :)

So harsh on Jaques but it looks like the selectors may have got this 1 right.
Early days yet thought lets hope the media doesnt build him up an place extreme pressure on him like they did with Warner.

Aus have come back magnificently and our players have played like a bunch of girls. Really pathetic performance. Haven't seen our side play this badly at home ever.

I suspect prince will be back in and maybe Imraan Khan might also come in. Depends if mckenzie gets runs in the second innings. If he fails again I suspect Imraan will get his chance in the last test and probably open with either ab or amla.

Yeah Hughes is everything and more than what I expected looking at his awesome domestic stats. Though SA has bowled poorley....but I felt with a good 15 minutes in either of the first 2 tests in Aus we could be up 4-0 here......now we have a slightly setteled team for the first time since the last ashes we look as good as ever. Hughes is definately giving me a semi......such a little pocket rocket who doesnt look like he will ever be intimidated....he got worked over big time by the saffers but he just doesnt budge....you can have him at sea one ball and think you have him...next ball you are chasing tail...at 20 with 2 tons in the bag....this could be real champion in the making.
