Australia tour of South Africa, 2008/09

I can't remember seeing two batsmen retire in the same innings of test hurt. What makes it worst is its our two best batsmen.:(

Great bowling by johnson.

Will need a miracle from here.

Yeah, he just went to get stitches, I think. Even then, nobody can play Johnson if he continues bowling like this. I think we'll see another Duminy special though. Just a matter of someone being there to support him. He could be a silent assassin just like with that 71(93) in the first ODI of South Africa's tour of Australia 08/09 at the MCG.

Agree about Duminy , hes a class act. But I dont think their tail enders will be too keen to get behind the ball.

Please MJ , just knock out Steyn. ;)

Johnson has been lethal... This is what you'd see from Brett Lee at his finest. Boy, 2 injuries, 4 wickets and into the bowlers. This is such an assault.

3 slips , 2 gullies , 2 leg gullies and short leg :eek::D

Jacques Kallis has had three stitches and has now gone for x-rays of his jaw

REFERRAL

Oh no hope he doesnt get any wickets in 2nd innings or else it means he will play again
An now he has another Morkel :(
Please selectors remember who it is he got out mostly tailenders.
His stump to stump bowling will always trouble tailenders its what more top line bowlers should be looking to do when bowling to the tail.

McDonald pace certainly enough to get the tailenders, if he could get his batting at this level up to scratch he would be perfect for the 5th bowling option. But certainly not the worst 4th bowling option I will admit.

Is it ever going to offer South Africa the flatness of day one? The batsmen are still copping the ball on their gloves, which happened maybe once or twice yesterday. Due to the heat, the pitch turned up a day early and was too dry for day one. In the context of comparison, it's not the best example of a sporting pitch. A good game to watch, but tougher for one of the two teams.

Unfortunately that's what happens in Test cricket and often ODI cricket as well. But the figures show that winning the toss isn't as big an advantage as playing in your home country is.

I'd still like to see them trial a system where instead of a toss the captains auction off the toss. In Test cricket you could auction off how many overs you'd like to have with only 10 fielders on the field for, and in ODI and Twenty20 you would auction off powerplay overs. So Ponting might bid 10 overs without a fielder when bowling, Smith might bid 11 and so on until on the captains says, nah stuff it you can choose whether to bat/bowl. But it would create a downside to having your choice of bat/ball and it would make the toss more interesting I think.

So who comes in for Smith? I say bring back Prince and stick him in the middle order and open with DeVilliers. McKenzie might also find his spot being questioned unless he scores big in the 2nd innings. Also I don't know if Tsotsobe is injured or what not but I would bring him or Albie in for Morne Morkel.

Good to see Aussie pace bowlers getting wickets, they are doing this without Lee and Clark. Johnson is really impressive.

McKenzie has been saved by Smith's injury. Prince in no question, Amla will probably move to the top. Maybe Prince at 3 unless Kallis wants to go back to that spot.

Just seeing Johnson spell yesterday made me think what it would have been like having Lee at his peak along side. Geez that would be scary. Siddle even though he clocked 150km/h didn't seem to rush the batsmen as much as Johnson did.

Aussies are getting back. Would have been great if Aussie toured India now.
