Australia tour of South Africa, 2008/09

Jesus Christ this is great cricket, theres been more excitement in this morning than there has been the whole of the West Indies England series.

Hilfy now coming to the party. Been keeping it tight and then he unleashed his weapon by not out swinging it. Unlucky not to have JP off the last ball too.

aussie1st added 1 Minutes and 36 Seconds later...

Nah, Joburg. This has given Australia way too much out of the toss, with the pitch being a dream to bat on yesterday.

Although how much was that to do with the SA bowling? Both these two are bowling with the sun on their back so it's nothing to do with the overcast conditions. The pitch might have quickend up a bit but certainly doesn't look like it is a 9 fer pitch in 1 and a bit sessions.

cmon boys just need one more wicket with the new ball. I think batting will get lot easier when the ball gets softer.

I agree but TBH the pitches are totally differant and that Australia's and South Africa's bowlnig attack are alot quicker (bar Edwards)

That was my point, the pitches in the West Indies aren't conducive to exciting cricket, they should have more in it for the bowlers.

Time for Siddle to test them with more fast short stuff. If he can produce a good spell here it could win the game for us.

Pitch looks to be flattening out again. Just shows you where SA stuffed up yesterday, this is a new ball pitch and they wasted their first new ball.

Siddle definitely needs to come in, our big problem is the 4th bowling option as McDonald can keep it tight but probably won't cause the batters anywhere near the problems of our 3 front line bowlers.

McDonald will keep one end tight and we can really attack from the other end. Still I wouldve liked to have a specialist spinner.

Hughes ton was awesome, and to see he had enough arrogance to bring it up with 2 sixes is something refreshing and superb to see. It's good to see youth showing no fear, and making there presence known. It's been a great start to his career and I hope it stays that way. He is a positive player and tough to remove, because you know what they say; Fortune favours the brave.

We got off to a flier with the ball, potentially having them at 4-6 off 6 at one stage seems Smith is in hospital. AB de Villiers didn't look himself with the ball he got out, he didn't look positive and lacked any decent movement you would expect from a young talented batsmen like himself. I was reading an article about him in Inside Cricket where he states he believes he can become the best batsmen in the world, and he knows he has the talent and he always comes out thinking positive or there is no point playing if you doubt yourself. I feel he broke his own rule in that innings, he didn't look like he wanted to be there.

Kallis and Duminy are doing the job here, Duminy has showed so much promise and it looks like his ton in Australia wasn't a fluke, and he is good under pressure. As I speak Kallis gets hit, and there is lots of blood, they could potentially go 5 down with 2 retired hurt.

Is it ever going to offer South Africa the flatness of day one? The batsmen are still copping the ball on their gloves, which happened maybe once or twice yesterday. Due to the heat, the pitch turned up a day early and was too dry for day one. In the context of comparison, it's not the best example of a sporting pitch. A good game to watch, but tougher for one of the two teams.

Jesus Christ hes bleeding badly there. Some real guts my Kallis so far in his innings they've been all over him. God right in the grill.
