Australia tour of South Africa, 2008/09

Congrats to the aussies for humiliating our team. What a pathetic showing from our boys. Its basically the new blood thats done it for the aussies,as well as some superb bowling from MJ.

As for SA,I think we need to look at that long tail. Were lacking a true allrounder in the lower order, someone to ake over the Pollock role.I don't believe that A.Morkel is the man to fill that role however.Morne Morkel needs to go play a bit more provincial cricket,he was way too inconsistent and he is not showing his full potential with the bat either.Bouchers position also needs to be looked at.He has hardly performed with the bat,and we have Darren Smit waiting in the wings. He would also add another aspect to our attack as we can put De Villiers behind the stumps for a few overs whilst he bowls his spinners.Im also glad to see Mckenzie getting axed,he has hardly done anything.Bring back Gibbs!Whats gonna be interesting to see is how Imraan Khan does, hes had a great season locally but I just feel he lacks technique.

But yea, both us and the Aussies have a wealth of talent, and I think things are a lot closer than theyve appeared in this test series.I think we can look forward to some great cricket from both teams!

Why didn't get Hughes get selected? :brickwall His 10 times better then Callum Ferguson and Adam Voges. Hughes will actually be around in 5 years time, unlike Ferguson & Voges.

Ferguson is 24 so he certainly will be around in 5 years time. He is a talent and has finally realized his potential. As for Hughes clearly the selectors want to see how Clarke and Haddin go as an opening combo. I would have given Hughes a go in the T20I to see how he goes then go from there.

Hughes ODD record actually isn't very impressive at all.

What irks me is that no one took me seriously (lol not you lot but my mates) when i suggested Hughes should play against New Zealand. Let him have some international experience. Meh i think South Africa are looking for a Hughes copy in Imraan Khan (what a name by the way). I reckon AB should be openning. I like the Albie Morkel knee jerk reaction. He'll prolly have a Mcdonald type role. With Siddle and Hilfenhouse looking below par in fitness might be a good idea to test bench strength in Mcgoffen and co.

No, he's not yet a complete strokeplayer, which is also why Ferguson has gotten where he is. Ferguson is ultra-confident about going after a ball he sees as a boundary, he will move his feet or hit it up to ensure it's not stopped by a fielder. Hughes' one day game is still a work in progress, he does hit big against spinners, but tends to just play conservatively against pace. A lot of his favourite cuts are just hit straight to the inner ring fielders and third man. His game doesn't involve many leg side boundaries against pace and is very much based on targeting wide balls. A very high proportion of his innings have ended with no feet and a flash to the keeper. I imagine he will probably have to grow into a much, much more expansive player, rather than an anchoring sort of player, to be successful.

Phillip Hughes look not good enough in ODI , He will improve his shot and understand enough how play in ODI then 5 years later he will in ODI. I am impressed with Callum Ferguson , i watch him play new zealand and he is brillant stoke i seen. I really hope he will improve and got better and better. He remind me of JP Duminy because he really calm mind and know what do next.

Well forget Magoffin playing in the 3rd test he has gone home!

Australia have sent Steve Magoffin home to Perth after the tall fast bowler wasn't included in the 16-man squad for next month's five one-day internationals in South Africa.

Bollinger is expected to challenge Hilfenhaus and Siddle for a place in the side for the third Test in Cape Town which starts on Thursday.

Only reason I could see for Bollinger making the side is if Hilfy or Siddle are injured.

is Tsotsobe injured or what? I would have taken him instead of Morkel. He offers some variation to Ntini and Steyn.

Hurt his knee on a wet outfield in the 20/20 domestic competition. Out for 3 months.
