Australia tour of South Africa, 2008/09

LOOOOL!

They showed a clip of the last time Australia toured South Africa and we won 3-0 and Brett Lee & Michael Kasprowicz were at the crease and they hit the winning runs.

Michael Kasprowicz was in the studio, along with Brendan Julian & Greg Blewett. They couldn't stop laughing!! They're like 'You should've done that at Birmingham aswell!'

Time for Katich to work on his bowling he just continues to get wickets and he can't go any worst than any of our current spinners. Pretty disappointing series from Ponting he really has dropped his standard by throwing his wicket away when he gets a start.

I'm surprised that Australia have discarded Krejza so quickly. He did brilliantly on debut, yet after one bad game, he gets dropped.

Maybe Bracken should take up spin.

They certainly really took to McGain. Really want to end his career before it even began.

Krejza is too expensive atm and lacks the variation to make it. He was dropped because he was too expensive and he is yet to fix this problem so it would be silly of the selectors to pick him.

Yep krezja isnt ready yet but as soon as he can develop variation.
Throw him back in the team.
When he gets variation he will be less expensive and predictable and wont just have to rely on batsmen miss hitting it to get wickets.

I'd bring Krezja back the next time we tour the subcontient because he was actually getting out Indian batsman when they were playing defensive.

But outside the subcontient, I'd go for the 4 man pace attack of Johnson, Clark, Siddle & Lee, with Watson as the allrounder batting at number 6.

McGain is crap. I told you! He's old and has no future in the Aussie side. Worst selection ever! Krejza get's a bloody 10fer or whatever on debut against India and now can't get a game. Well done! Hauritz wasn't bad either. The Aussie selectors need to show more patience. I'd probably got with Hauritz because he's younger.

Nah, I've seen McGain bowl well. I honestly don't know what happened.

SOS Matthew Hayden.
Why? Our openers are doing fine. We have better middle order players.

How good was De Villiers last night! He went absolutely nuts. It was so good to watch. He is really a top player.

Aussie Ben that a 5 man pace attack if watson plays at 6
Thats why a guy like north needs to play at 6 so he can help bowl some spin.

Watson or hopes etc at 6 will be good if we select 3 quicks an a spinner

For the Ashes, I would be happy with a bowling attack of Lee, Johnson, Siddle and Clark. Take Bollinger or Hilfenhaus and a spinner, preferably Hauritz in the squad as well. Watson should be there, so I would be running with this team, providing all the players have match fitness and it is not a huge spinning wicket.

1. Phil Hughes
2. Simon Katich
3. Ricky Ponting *
4. Michael Hussey
5. Michael Clarke
6. Shane Watson
7. Brad Haddin +
8. Mitchell Johnson
9. Brett Lee
10. Peter Siddle
11. Stuart Clark

Watson can get through 15-20 overs per innings (no more, otherwise he will be out for another 6 months) and Clarke and Katich are capable of providing the slow stuff. Pace bowling is where our strength lies, and I don't see the point of naming a spinner just for the sake of it, unless it's an incredibly dire pitch that will deteriorate enormously. Obviously, if we have a test match standard spinner, I'm all for playing him, but if we don't, stick to the 4 men pace attack.
