It was clear, Bancroft had to take it on himself, which he didn't. So Smith had to confess this. Had Bancroft been a team player, this issue would have not even come out.

Oh come on.

If anything, it was cowardice on part of Smith and the "leadership" to ask this of the youngest player in the team. Its like he would have been a handy scapegoat in this whole scheme, and the senior players were okay with this.

Moreover, wasn't it Smith who confessed that the leadership was involved and not Bancroft?

This is actually not interesting but the right decision that should happen
Leaders of the team are at fault along with the coach by making a young player a scapegoat to a shameful tactic which has tarnished the image of Australian cricket in the eyes of the whole cricketing fraternity.
And I can't even see the australian public or the australian media backlashing CA if this decision is taken

They have important matches coming up and with all due to respect to others, these 2 are the ones keeping them relevant. A hefty fine + a ban for couple games is more likely in this scenario. Also it would be sad to see Lehmann go in this manner. Has been Australia's best coach this century (much better than Buchanan) and there aren't many replacements out there bar Langer and Gillespie who aren't certainties to accept the job. Can see Rogers leading the group one day but it's far too early.

They do not care about results at this point. The image of Australian cricket is more important than two blokes that concocted a plan to cheat. The government and public care more of the Spirit of Australian sport than two, even if best, players right now.

You're right about a lot of important series this year. I can ensure you that Bancroft, Warner and Smith will not be playing international cricket for a while.

Smith is an utter coward as is Warner. They are hiding behind each other and blaming others: Starc Hazlewood and Lyon who are part of the leadership group subtlely made clear to the press that they had no idea what was going on.

I believe them: I tell you now that this was Warners idea and to be Warners best buddy Bancroft took it on.

As an Australian speaking on behalf of us, we are disgusted because we don't believe in cheating whatsoever. We the Australian public want out teams to play tough but fair. I'm happy for our teams to talk the talk and then walk the walk. However I will never listen to other countries mouth off about us whatsoever because they are just hypocrites. Look at England with Botham ball tampering and openly admitting they tampered with the ball during one of the Ashes Series (cant remember which one off the top of my head). As for South Africa. Zipper man Du Plessis need I say more ? Hansie Cronje ? Herschelle Gibbs ? Pakistan ...... don't even need to go there.

I don't care what other countries do for one. Nor do most of us over here. However we do care about what our teams do and cheating is a big no no. Hence the huge outcry over here.

The only reason it is such a big deal is because we set higher standards for ourselves here and don't usually stoop this low. Most successful One Day side of all time. Five World Cups, next best is two. Most successful Test side of all time. Think our win % is like 10% better then the next best. The all time XI is full of Australians. The greatest player of all time is Australian. This is especially why the English hate us. The fact their convicts have gone on and wiped the floor with them has to sting. I mean who wants to be beaten by their convicts ? India hate us because they think they are Cricket now and don't like the fact it was actually started with us and England.

This is huge over here. My elderly next door neighbor had his flag at half mast. Told me he's never ever had it at half mast for anything to do with sport here in his life before. He is honestly heart broken by it.

I'd like to see Warner, Smith and Bancroft banned from ever representing Australia in any format again. It's unlikely, but a lot of people here are calling for it believe me.

I wasn't alive for the underarm incident yet still know it all too well, which still lives on in over here in shame and that was legal at the time. BS. The outcry is because said individuals involved have been openly criticising others when accused, sworn never to do it. Bitched and moaned all tour long about sledging hostile crowds wha wah wah. What about players in Australia who have had urine thrown on them, Amla called a terrorist, Ntini called a baboon, monkey comments for Indians etc etc etc. When Aussies get it back Lehman cries like a four year old that is being forced to share their favourite toy. Please. Save the 'because we are best everyone expects more BS' The players in question have been riding high on their glorified pedestals and how the mighty have fallen. As a Saffer, I always hated but respected Ponting, S. Waugh and McGrath. They were hard vicious and often dirty but never conspired to cheat like this. Kudos to them.
