Unfortunately Ball Tampering is a level 2 offence and the maximum penalty is 1 game ban and 25%-50% of match fee. In my opinion it should be a whole lot more for that.

There were a lot of Aussies on this forum hooting and trying to proclaim that the brain fade was not pre planned. I remember distinctly telling a fellow forum member from Australia that the cricketing fraternity, not only cricketers but also aspiring cricketers like myself have learnt a great deal just watching them on tele. However, our coaches always steer clear of adopting their antics on/off field. Is it remotely fair that a country with such great cricketers, legacy and prestige is always marred with this "bully background?" NO!

Steve Smith is known for the batsman that he is. He's known for being someone of immense mental fortitude for changing his art mid way through his career and excelling at it. He doesn't need to resort to such miserable things to make a name for himself.. It takes years to make a name and very little to destroy it.

I can only imagine the uproar if a sub continent team had done what the Aussies did yesterday, specially after an episode like the [HASHTAG]#brainfade[/HASHTAG].

Can't see any posts from the blokes that were calling the brain fade saga a "spurs of the moment" thing. It was obvious then, it's proved now- Steve Smith is a lying cheat!

To people saying Smiths intent was good, is a very meek effort to support a cheat. I am sure afridi was also eating the ball with good intent a couple of games back??

Anyways, afridi was handed a two match ban for momentarily putting the ball in his mouth and that incident can actually be called a brain fade. This was a well planned move to change the condition of the ball and cheat the umpires. Surely this warrants a bigger punishment.

Its amazing that a team with arguably the best bowling attack has to resort to such tactics.

Was wrong initially about the event. Thought it was the work of just Bancroft but not the case unfortunately. Think Smith will be removed from his captaincy or at least receive a very, very, very stern warning. But it is interesting to read Smith say Lehmann had no knowledge of all this. Surely, a coach can't be this oblivious to an issue as serious as this?

If CA board Takes action on smith next question , will Warner becomes Captain ?

As disgusting as this situation is, to say Smith isn’t still the best, at least in test cricket, is simply incorrect.

I’m disgusted by this. I feel for Bancroft who’s career will be on the line despite being the best Australian batsmen on this tour (highest run scorer I believe). I’ve always looked at Smith as an idol however this has completely changed my opinion of him, I can’t look at him the same way and I doubt I will ever be able to again
