Wow Roo. I had no idea your work had improved this much. It is like a completely different story with this new presentation. Really is awesome to read, a lot of effort obviously goes into it. If I seen this earlier, I might have voted for you in SOTM, but it is too late.

Australia have made a pretty good start here, Marsh especially is doing well. Hopefully we can have a nice and exciting finish

Thanks for the warm comments mate Like i've said before, i have been basing this story and my graphics around Gamerkid22 a lot lately, and the way he use to present his work early in his story. Every update i do, i have Gamerkid's story open and i follow his technique.
And i am happy it is finally taking some notice as a lot of effort is being put into this.

Kiwi's giving away too many chances
(Allowing Australia back in the game)​

New Zealand if they took their chances in the last 10-15 overs, could have the Aussies well and truly wrapped up here in Auckland, and would be on their way to a 1-0 lead in this ODI series, but not being able to take those chances, New Zealand are looking at themselves in defeat, as Australia are crusing to a comfortable victory.

Tim Southee, a newbie in the New Zealand bowling attack, had his chance to get the home crowd going, and put them behind his back when he had the chance to take the wicket of the Aussie Captain Ponting. Southee bowled a slower ball, which Ponting didn't pick up. Ponting chipped the ball, and it went far enough to land in the hands of a fieldsmen on the inner circle.... The crowd went up, and started cheering, but the loud call of ("NO BALL") rang around the oval, and everyone went silent.

A big roar of booing hit the ground as the Kiwi fan's certainly weren't happy about that decision, but Ponting is still out there, and what if that was the part of the match that won it for Australia?

Once that little scare happened for the Aussies, that's when Marsh decided to take on the bowlers, even Dan Vettori who is one of the best ODI bowlers going around. Ponting was playing well, but nothing too stupid at the moment, and maybe that little decision might of knocked Ponting back a bit and made him play a little more safely? But it was Marsh that is starting to bid on the runs a little, and now New Zealand need to turn their attention onto him.

With that No ball decision about 5 overs ago, started to bring back the best of Ponting, he was leaving many more balls, and playing defensivly. Vettori was the bowler that ended up breaking the rain of this partnership, as he picked up the important wicket of the Aussie captain just 5 overs after he was suppose to be out. Ponting tried to read the flight of the ball against the spin, and stepped back to try and whack it over the onside. Just not enough bounce that caught Ponting, as the ball nipped the bottom edge of the bat and was caught by McCullum right into his chest. Defiently a tester for McCullum, as his reflexes needed to be spot on, but he took the catch and now the Aussies are 2 down.

With that wicket, out brings Michael Hussey the fine ordered left hander. Hussey has very good experience in One Day matches as his played in 103 of them, and batted in 81 innings. A very very good average of 55 and will be looking to play a good knock this afternoon to help his side chase down this total and pick out the victory.

New Zealand would be kicking themselves in this match, first the chance of a wicket to Ponting just a couple of overs ago, and now with the new batsmen, Shaun Marsh had a oppourtunity to be sitting back in the pavillion, as Southee bowled a blinder of a ball that swung away from the left hander, and caught the edge of the bat. It sailed quickly, and fortunately for Marsh, a little too quickly for McCullum as the ball was just inches away from his gloves, in the air and for 4 down the boundary. A big sigh of relief came from Marsh as he reached his half century with those runs, and now things start from the beginning.

Aussies loose 3 consecutive wickets
(Makes the game a whole lot more interesting)​

Well this game has totally changed since the last 10 overs, New Zealand has turned this match into a free fair for both sides, and now with just 15 overs to come, it is certainly anyones game. Australia still look to have the match in the bag, but it's the Kiwi's that have their tails up, and are looking for another wicket or two.


What a wonderful last 10 overs we have witnessed from New Zealand, some of their no name bowlers, like Styris, Grant Elliot and Peter Fulton have fully turned this match around. Australia were looking good at 141/2 just 10 overs ago, but now with 3 consecutive wickets, the first one going to the wonderful innings from Shaun Marsh ended as a horrible decision from the umpire was called out, when all the raplay's showed the ball completely missing off. A horrible decision, and the ump would change his mind if he saw the replay, but the decision has been made, and Marsh has walked back to the pavillion.
A very nice in swinger from James Franklin with his last over, swung back into the pads off Marsh, even though the ball missed off, it was still called out, and a good innings comes to an end.

With this wicket, this bought in the young blonde haired bombshell from Queensland, Michael Clarke. The Vice-Captain of the team enters the arena, and with Mike Hussey at the crease with him, it looks to be a dominant attack they are performing with at the moment. A lot of experience from Clarke, should see him bat well, as he missed the trial match against the Northern Districts, so he'll be looking to get off to a good start.

But that little partnership was quickly ended by some good slow bowling from Grant Elliot. Not known for his bowling, Elliot was given the ball, and picked up the wicket of Clarke just after making 11 runs. Not a very good start to this tour for him, and would be dissapointed. A slower ball from Elliot, as Clarke didn't pick up the speed of the ball, and edged it in the air to silly point, where Scott Styris took the catch, and Clarke walks back to the pavillion. A important wicket for New Zealand, and with now David Hussey coming to the crease, they don't want the two brothers forming a partnership which is what they have done throughout their whole lives.

But with their tails up, the Kiwi's picked up another quick consecutive wicket, this time of Mike Hussey. Peter Fulton was introduced into the attack, and in his first over, got the important wicket of David Hussey who was playing pretty well at the time. Just minutes after the Clarke wicket, Fulton got the edge of Hussey's bat, which sailed into the gloves of McCullum behind the stumps, and as the crowd went up and roared, the Aussies looked to be loosing this match. Now it's up to Cameron White and Mike Hussey to do the business.

So there we go. With just 15 overs to come, Mike Hussey and Cameron White have 66 runs to get, with 90 balls remaining. Seems easy enough, but the Kiwi's have their tails up, and are hunting for another wicket and fast. After these 2 men, the bottom order is exsposed, and then the Aussies could flop, so Hussey and White will be looking to grab a 30-40 run partnership before the next wicket falls.

Australia should easily get this total still but New Zealand are fighting back and making a game of this. If they can get Hussey out shortly then I say NZ have the upper hand. Its going to make for an interesting last 15 overs.

New Zealand give Aussies another lifeline​

With the next 10 overs which was going to determine the rest of the match, it was a unusual 10 overs. New Zealand had their ups and downs in the match which could of either won them the match, or totally lost it. Michael Hussey and Cameron White were at the crease for the Aussies, and they only needed 66 runs in the last 90 balls to win the match... sound easy enough? Not when Mike Hussey was caught out by Peter Fulton around the 40th over stage.

A rare out swinger from Fulton was enough for Hussey to play at the ball through covers, but the late swing found a late edge on the ball, which landed in the hands of McCullum behind the stumps, now it's up to White and now into the bowling attack, in James Hopes, and it's up to them now to bring this match home for the Aussies

With Cameron White having the game on his hands now, he is the main player that needs to win the match for the Aussies, as the Kiwi's have broken through to the Australian tail end, so they'll be looking to bowl this team out, or keep them from bringing the total down and bowl some dot balls.
The Kiwi's had the chance to defiently break the shackles off the match, as White was dropped on 2, by the keeper McCullum. A huge part in the game, which would of left Hilfenhaus and Hopes at the crease, but now, as White survives, Australia still have a chance to win the match, as New Zealand will be kicking themselves for letting that oppourtunity down.

So heres the deal. Australia need 23 runs from 35 balls, and with Cameron White* 23 and Ben Hilfenhaus* 0 at the crease, can they bring the match home? It looks to be a close finish to the match, as Hilfenhaus will be looking to give as much of the strike as he can to White so he can win the match for the Aussies. It should be easy, as a run a ball would win the match from here.

What a thriller we have in our hands folks. Australia needed 23 runs from 35 balls, and well done to New Zealand have bought the match back into their own hands as they gave no chances to the Aussies in the last 4 overs of the match. White and Hilfenhaus just guided the ball into the gaps, so they could pick up the singles, but credit to the Kiwi's, they kept them to just singles, and many dot balls.
With Peter Fulton going to bowl the last over off the match and with White and Hilfenhaus at the crease, it is going to be a very intense last over. Can the Aussies get up and win, they need 6 runs to win the match, or will New Zealand restrict them and win the match for themselves.
