Australian Domestic Cricket

Queensland batting has finally been found out, but they have done well to this point. Surprising enough it came against one of the weaker bowling attacks that they will face.

Looks like Symmo' is back for QLD.

Semi-retired swashbuckler Andrew Symonds has answered an SOS from an injury-hit Queensland to line up for the Bulls in Alice Springs on Saturday.

Symonds, who ended his international career when he was sent home from England in June, will make a surprise return to domestic cricket against South Australia in a one-day clash.

The former Test allrounder had his Cricket Australia contract torn up after breaking team rules during the Twenty20 World Cup.

Symonds, who continues to play for the Deccan Chargers in the IPL, announced before the Australian season he would only play for Queensland in the Twenty20 Big Bash tournament and in the advent of injuries.

Such a situation has struck after back-to-back Sheffield Shield matches against Tasmania and the Redbacks took their toll.

The 34-year-old has replaced paceman Chris Swan (groin) in the Bulls squad and will travel from Adelaide to the Northern Territory with the team on Friday.

The Bulls are also missing Australian allrounder James Hopes (hamstring) and senior quick Ryan Harris (foot).

A Queensland Cricket spokesman would not confirm Symonds' return on Thursday night but it's known he's with the team.

"There's every chance he could (play) but we can't confirm that at this point in time," he said.

"There's no official team announced as yet but he's there with the 12."

The Bulls have also been hit by a knee injury to Glen Batticciotto who has been forced to undergo arthroscopic surgery.

How dog of Dan Harris, declaring with Klinger on 92...wasn't a Victorian innings declared once when Klinger was on the verge of his maiden ton, on 99*?

Yep 99* a bunch of years ago, poor bugger! This time they were only going to bat for 30 mins maximum so I read, so he was lucky to get into the 90's, bit like Hick in 1994, except I didnt feel sorry for him then! he just blocked out an over with no attempt to get his ton.

Roy is a handy player to bring back. Should be interesting seeing how he goes.

Wonder what NSW will do about their lineup. Bollinger, Lee and Clarke are all expected to play so probably Rorher will drop from the batting and two of Cockley, Starc and Casson. I'll probably keep Starc who looked decent in the recent game.

aussie1st added 1 Minutes and 41 Seconds later...

NSW are going to field a team with 8 internationals.

Hauritz and Watson have been told to rest already.

Interesting lineup we have

NSW: Simon Katich (capt), Michael Clarke, Stuart Clark, Burt Cockley, Phillip Hughes, Josh Hazlewood, Brad Haddin, Brett Lee, Stephen O'Keefe, Phil Jaques, Steven Smith, David Warner (12th man to be named on morning of the match).

Tasmania: George Bailey (capt), Travis Birt, Luke Butterworth, Ed Cowan, Michael Dighton, Xavier Doherty, Brendan Drew, James Faulkner, Brett Geeves, Wade Irvine, Jason Krejza, Rhett Lockyear (12th man to be named on morning of the match).

Looks like Hazelwood will be the 12th man unless Clarke doesn't pull up.

This match will be awesome, two very strong sides, only wish Hilfy and Punter were playing:p

Hodge is going to score another century :p Dorey's having a shocker today.

EDIT: Run out appeal while I type ? Nah, Hodge grounded it in time.

Another conflagration from Philipson, this time a big one, 50 not out from 35. After losing his contract last season, it seems his return to the top level is one of a player who has the hunger and courage that the selectors felt was missing. At 26, this once highly rated rookie could yet go even further.

Hopefully Walter can pull something out of his bag of tricks here and snare us a few wickets. He already has 5 OD wickets @ 21.4, a mighty impressive average for a young bowler. That should push out soon enough, though.
