Australian Domestic Cricket

Horrid name.

This might be okay. I think I originally said I wouldn't watch a game again... well that didn't last long.

It'll be interesting to see how the new format goes :)

Nice outswinger. Wells caught between forward and back, just pushes at it; catching practice for Simpson. Rimmington picking up where he left off.

shaawt cowan

They say Simpson has been tweaking his spin over winter. Hopes has brought him into the attack. Let's watch!

Cosgrove slashed in the air to cover. Dropped by Carseldine. Had a slow start, but he's starting to look more serious now.

Yeah, here we go. He's flinging Simpson around.

Cosgrove is always good to watch, his form for Australia a few years back didnt warrant his dropping, he hit them clean. In good form today, Cowan looks rusty as though.

God I love HD cricket!

Moves like a train between the wickets!

Good pace from Feldman.

He loves going wide

Ooh Feldman, sharp line, there's the value of a bit of pace. Good wicket.

Ah shorter from Hopes, Bailey shapes for the back foot drive, but the finest and quietest of nicks goes though to Hartley. Might've gotten away with that in front of a big crowd.

3/105 They started slow, but Cosgrove picked up and scored the bulk of the runs. He did well, but their position means that his job should be far from over. If Tas can get more wickets, they might feel safer.

Finally, they got rid of him. Simpson went for his shots and made 33, but it was a pretty awful knock.

Man I wish it wasn't 12 a side. I don't see the point of that rule...why on earth do we need another player? What does an extra player bring to the game of cricket? Yes it gives one more player a go, but we shouldn't be handing out state berths willy-nilly. It just lengthens batting lineups, which is stupid because a) they've shortened the game by 5 overs and don't need more batsmen and b) it teaches the bad habit of putting less value on your wicket. I guess the administrators are hoping for more rash shots. Rash shots=money in their eyes...

But anyway, apart from the 12 players idea, I really like the changes. Don't want to come across as a pessimist...:p

I suppose that's true, but I'd like to think it's flexible. I'd definitely like to see teams that can pick an extra specialist bowler do so. I'm looking at you, Queensland.

It looks like a 275 pitch in the old scale; with 5 overs less, I'd say 252 is just on the money. Whatever the case, Queensland's batsmen will have to find a quality score amongst them. Cosgrove did it for Tassie at the start, but then Lockyear did it later on. Queenland are still waiting for one batsman to go on. Lot of pressure on them.

Although I'm not watching it this looks like a horrid format. If a team collapses first innings its just going to make the whole thing a complete bore to watch.
