Australian Domestic Cricket

Jaques got a life on 69. He disdainfully pulled a full toss from Krejza to Wells in the deep, who was too far forward and just managed to push the ball instead of holding on to it.

Interesting having Khawaja batting so low especially below Maddinson. But boy that kid is another talented batsmen in the NSW rank, looks like he is very comfortable in the top grade.

Maddinson played a rubbish shot to a rubbish ball and allowed the short fine to take an easy catch. It was short and just outside his off, but he didn't play a very convincing pull and certainly didn't play the safest line.

Krejza's been a bit lucky with the short ball, at least to the lefties; getting a bit of turn can be worth the odd loose one.

Jaques is looking to reverse sweep Doherty and I don't like it.

But it's the straight one that does him. Jaques lbw to Doherty for 95 from 103.

And Khawaja is bowled around his legs! Krejza pitches it full, Khawaja sweeps, but does not connect.

Can't post quick enough. Rohrer too is bowled by Krejza. On off stump, Rohrer tried to make room on it, but it skidded on and snuck underneath his bat.

This is decent spin bowling and indecent playing of it.

The former captain is bowled as well!

Krejza wraps up his overs with 3/55 and the Blues under the Tigers' thrall.

Doherty gets his third, the stumps have managed to get out of the way this time, but it's the slog sweep again. Coyte is caught in the deep, put just enough on it to do so with a good diving catch.

Lee gone, one left. Doherty has nailed the stumps from deepish mid off and nearly the bowler too, as Denton takes evasive action and ends up on the ground. Even though there have been some silly drops, there have been some excellent throws in this game.

Tassie by 72. NSW looked like they had the game in the first 25 overs of Tassie's innings and then still looked good enough to give chase by 25th over of their own. However, their late bowling was too hittable and their late batting was even worse. Doherty and Krejza were key to that, simply proving too crafty. Krejza relied on turn and bounce, but Doherty's ability to fire in a quicker ball at up to 65 mph really starved the batsmen of timing on a track that was otherwise playing pretty easy.

Cowan brought up a majestic unbeaten 131 and Birt finished 87 not out, This was the partnership that really set the Tasmania up for a competitive total - with high-octane batting performances.

Pretty disappointing in the end. Our middle order is just too fragile atm, Khawaja still has work to do in this format. But in the end the bowlers left too much to do for the batsmen.

Hogan looks good. Getting good pace, good carry and his inswinger is hooping in. Can't seem to get these guys out, though.

Dixon also looks a good prospect. Gets in close to the stumps and presents a good seam. Likes to shape the ball away, but also seamed it back in for a reasonable lbw shout. Quite quick for an 18 year old.

Fast attack for Victoria. Might be tough to defend that bonus point with 80 on the board, but they stand a chance to get some wickets.

Good to hear, that's when Siddle's at his best - when he's bowling FAST. Trouble is he can't seem to do it every spell, and I'm not sure his body can handle it long term. If he could get in the 140s every spell he'd be better, because too often he bowled in the high 130s and you can just see the zip come out of his deliveries.

Are you all actually enjoying this split innings format? Seems ridiculous to me. There is actually no excitement.

Victoria have just run into a bit of trouble here, which is a shame for them after getting through the first stage relatively well. Batting should be good out there now and they need to get a partnership going. They got away with it last game thanks to Hodge, but they can't count on him doing that every time.

Good time for Wade to push his further. Paine still has a bit of leeway as backup but his recent performances have been pretty slow. Hodge hot streak had to end at some stage, he should enjoy his 200 run average though!

Absolutely brilliant ton from Wade today, off 80 balls, and brought it up in the final over with one of the biggest hits ive seen at the MCG, miles and miles over mid wicket, way back in the stand. This guy is ready made for international cricket, time and time again he not only digs the Vics out but blasts them into a good position. The sooner he is in the Aussie one day team the better. Paine for me is the next Test keeper, but Wade just has it NAILED in odi's. Could be a IPL star too.
