McDermott copped a bit of stick from the lefty openers Cowan and Cazzulino, but troubling the righties since the breakthrough. Second ball to Doolan finds the outside edge and pretty much the same deal for Ponting.

Thanks Sedition. :thumbs

Ponting is a big wicket, he could of really hurt Queensland. We need some solid batting from Faulkner & Butterworth. A hundred from Cazzulino would be great. :D

No worries mate.

Qld are the walking wounded already. Tassie just need to hang around scoring at .5 per over or something and keep them in the field until sometime in the morning tomorrow.

I like watching bowlers, but I still found it hard to watch; or rather, easy to stop watching. I mean 6/200 in 90 overs is a stalemate, a pyrrhic victory to Tasmania if anything. 1 boundary every ten overs, 1 wicket every 15. It wasn't a day of great success.

Shield final is a place to make your mark and Mcdermott has done that. Boyce made a tiny one showing his potential with the leggies but also showing he still has a long way to go.

Qld in a world of hurt now, already 4 wickets down.. make that 5.. was going to say Bird hasn't even taken a wicket yet, but now he's in on the action.

The aggressive batsmen seem to have prospered this season, Hopes in this match and Smith played a few good knocks on tricky decks.

There was some trouble with a wet ball, but Hopes is strangely effective. There was a one day game last year where he was just incredible. Lower order counter-attacks are obviously a key aspect of Queensland's batting. They're used to the Gabba, going out with a few wickets down and not worrying about it. You could say they batted a lot worse than Tassie, but it was also a better day's play to watch.

Jackson Bird with 48 wickets @15.75 for the season playing for Tasmania in the final. Not seen him bowl but he's tall and those numbers are very good.

Well as a NSWelshman, have to say that I'm disappointed that Qld won the trophy. They dominated the first half of the season though and got the job done in the back half, so it was well deserved. Great performances from Hopes, Hartley and McDermott in the final.

I've always disliked Tassie the least :p, so gotta feel some sympathy for them after the tie/loss in the Ryobi cup and now failing to defend the shield trophy. They had Qld on the ropes in both innings though, but couldn't close them out.

Faulkner continues on his wicket taking ways, would like to see how he goes on a flatter deck likewise Bird.

Poor Ponting just can't get that elusive Shield victory.

Well played Queensland in particular Hartley and Magoffin who basically won the game with their batting.

I remember seeing McDermott bowl in that under-19 World Cup couple years ago that Australia won under Mitchell Marsh.

His action reminds of Damien Fleming, so i'm looking out for his progress in the future.
