It's been a great story so far and I congratulate you on keeping it up for this length of time. The Aussies seem to have the upper hand here, so I'm backing them for a win.

Really good pres. here and the use of photoshop is very good. I actually reckon India will fight back and win the game, it seems very unlikely, but ya never know! Singh could be a big threat.

Australia Cruise To Victory - Australia 4/199

Australia cruised to an emphatic 6 wicket victory to win the VB One Day series at the MCG in front of a sell out crowd. Michael Hussey 39* (54) and Michael Clarke 42* (66) completed the job after a well compiled 64 from captain Ricky Ponting.

Irfan Pathan was the only Indian bowler to dominate the Australian top order, claiming 2/40 on his way to best bowling figures for the tourists. It will be a dissapointing finish to what has been an excellent tour for India, having one the test series 2-1 and dominated the world champion Australian outfit on many occasions over the summer.

Hussey and Clarke have done it! :clap Great win for Aussies! Also Good tour for India becos reaching finals in Australia is somewat tough!

Nice Series coming to an finish... Well done MWaugh!

Yup, the Aussies sure did cruise to victory there. Kudos to Hussey and Clarke for that last unbeaten partnership. India should have probably used Harbhajan a bit more though.

a comprehensive victory for the aussies there, and like culi said where hav we heard that before

Series Presentation

Welcome back to the MCG after another fantastic game of limited overs cricket here in Melbourne as we prepare to crown our one day series winner. My name is of course Mark Nicholas and with me i have the unsuccessful Indian captain Rahul Dravid. Rahul, a little dissapointed with the performance tonight?

Yes obviously we would have like to have performed a little bit better. We have played very well since arriving in Australia and we desperately wanted to finish with the series victory today.

There were alot of positives that came out of this series though wouldnt you agree?

Yes very much so, Sreesanth debuted and took the most wickets and he looks like a great prospect, especially with the world cup approaching. Sachin also looks as thoughes found his touch again, the 182 at Brisbane was just amazing.

Well Rahul I would like to thank you very much for your time, you have had a very successful tour of Australia and im sure youll do well in the future.

Well now with me I have Australian captain Ricky Ponting. Ricky youve had a very up and down summer but you were able to finish in typical style today?

Yes Mark, we havent had our most successful summer in recent years but I always thought we were right in the mix to win each and every game. Tonights game was a great victory, and very important for us to leave with a series victory to build some confidence.

This series appeared to be as much about bringing new players into the fold as much as winning. Would that be right?

Well I think winning is always the priority but it was very nice that we could bring some fresh talent into the squad and have a look at how they perform. I was delighted with Shaun Tait, he looks like an exceptional talent. And there are a few others which will have strong claims in the future.

(Ricky Ponting with the VB series trophy)

Thank you very much for your time Ricky and congratulations on the victory.

Ok no so we move on to our player of the match award, and I dont think there is any suprises here, Australian spinner Brad Hogg. Welcome Hoggy, geez you would have to be over the moon right now.

Mate its absolutly great, Ive been very happy with my personal performance of late and the way the ball has been coming out. Im just very pleased that i could play my part in the match and help us secure a win and the trophy.

Well thanks very much Hoggy and all the best in the West Indies.

Ok so now we have our last award of the night and the season. The VB player of the series, and the award goes to none other than the Australian captain Ricky Ponting. In just 5 innings Ricky has amassed 313 runs at an average of just over 94. Ricky once again congratulations.

Thanks mark, the team victory was amazing but its always nice to win some personal awards. I feel as though the ball has come off the bat very nicely and things are really feeling good at the moment. Hopefully that carries on but at the moment its time to savour victory.

Thanks Ricky and thank you from everybody here at Channel Nine, this concludes our telecast of the VB final series.
