The Countdown Begins - 10 Overs Remain - Australia 3/257

As the final 10 overs begin, Australia looks on track to set one of their largest totals in the one day arena. Australia are 3/257 with Adam Gilchrist still unbeaten on 130 while Andrew Symonds is unbeaten on 14 as Australia continue to score freely at 6.42 runs per over.

South Africa are gradualy pulling the Aussies back however with 7 wickets in hand it is likely that Australia could well post a score around the 350 run mark.

Projected totals

Current Run Rate (6.42)
6.42 = 321 runs
7.00 = 327 runs
8.00 = 337 runs
9.00 = 347 runs
10.00 = 357 runs

it seems like aus gona post a huge total..may be 325 or may be more than that.
they hav 7 wicks left..they shud start firing as hard as possible

Nel Claims Symonds - Australia 4/267

Andre Nel combined with Nicky Boje to claim the wicket of Andrew Symonds as Australia slipped to be 4/267. Boje took a superb catch as Symonds misstimed a leg glance to square leg as Nel picked up his first wicket of the innings.

the wicket of symonds is huge for South Africa, but Australia still look on target of 300+

Gilchrist Strikes 150 - Australia 4/288

Adam Gilchrist celebrated his third milestone of the game when he passed 150 runs to take Australia to 4/288 with 6 overs remaining in the match.
Gilchrist brought up his 126 ball 150 with 12 boundaries and 6 clearing the ropes for six.

Gilchrist Finally Departs - Australia 5/311

Adam Gilchrist's brutal knock finally came to an end as he took Australia to a fine position of 5/311 with still 4 overs to play in the 1st innings. Gilchrist eventually compiled 166 from 136 balls at a strike rate of 122.05 to put Australia in a very strong position and South Africa square behind the 8-ball.

Nicky Boje continued his tight bowling to take the wicket of Gilchrist, who holed out to deep mid on.

Clarke Slogs To The Deep - Australia 6/322

Michael Clarke threw his wicket away in a final overs dash when he was caught by Ashwell Prince off the bowling of Jacques Rudolph to leave Australia at 6/322 with still 2 overs remaining in the innings.

Clarke was caught at deep mid wicket playing the slog-sweep on a steady 23 as Prince took a superb outfield diving catch.

this is a big total..another trophy is coming :)

great graphics & presentation..perfect snaps

Hussey And Watson See Australia To 6/329

Michael Hussey and Shane Watson contributed single figures to guide Australia to a very strong 6/329 at the conclusion of the 50 overs against South Africa.

Hussey (7*) and Watson (5*) pushed the ball around in the final two overs to set South Africa the total of 330 runs to win at a required run rate of 6.60 runs per over, a huge ask for any team in world cricket, especially against an Australian bowling attack featuring McGrath, Lee, Gillespie and Watson.

Gilchrist was the undoubtable star of the innings as he smashed 166 from 136 balls and Ricky Ponting also contributed well with 68 from 80 balls. Nicky Boje was the pick of the bowlers for the Proteas with 2/53 form 10 at 5.3 an over to help keep the score below 350.

What They Said

"Well Gilly was just superb today. Its just magic to watch him when he is seeing the ball like that. Im very pleased with the play a few of the boys played around him but when you have a guy striking the ball like he is what else do you need to do? We now just have to keep it tight in the field and the results will come."

Ricky Ponting
(Australian Captain)

"There are sometimes in cricket that you end up right under the pump with no way out. Unfortunatly we were right under the pump today, we really needed a few of the bowlers to step up and keep it tight but unfortunatly we werent able to do that today. We now have to go out and throw caution to the wind in the 2nd innings and hope for the best but its going to be a very very tough ask"

Graeme Smith
(South African Captain)
