Run Chase Begins In Trouble - South Africa 1/18 (4.0)

Brett Lee snatched the early breakthrough as Australia put greater pressure on South Africa as they look to wrap up the series with a victory at the New Wanderers Ground in Johannesburg.

Lee had opener Herschelle Gibbs caught on the cover boundary by Michael Hussey for 9 as South Africa slipped to be 1/18 as the look to score at the 6.60 runs per over needed for victory.

This may be a sign of things to come for the Australians as the Africans look to hit thier way into a position where they may win the game. However a run rate of 6.60 is always going to be very difficult to chase down.

2 or 3 more quick wickets and south africa will be out of the game

Kallis Plays Catchup For Proteas - South Africa 1/68 (10.0)

Jacques Kallis and Graeme Smith began the huge task of chasing down Australias huge total of 6/329 as the look to salvage the 2nd one day international at Johannesburg.

Despite the loss of Herschelle Gibbs for 9, Kallis (35*) and Smith (19*) were able to score at 6.8 runs per over to keep in contact with the Australian worm graph.

The pair will have to continue this scoring rate, and require 262 runs at 6.55 runs per over to win the game and tie the series 1-1.

Cracking Gilly innings, what a vital part he played! Now get some more quick wickets and your well on your way!

Gillespie Suffers Injury Shocker

Jason Gillespies short term playing career appears in doubt after he suffered an ankle injury whilst bowling in the second one day international against South Africa.

After being punished for 36 runs from only 4 overs (a run rate of 9 runs an over), Gillepie fell in his delivery stride and appeared to do damage to his right ankle. Gillespie will now go to the hospital for scans, after which a clearer time on his absense will be known.

The injury raises a problem for captain Ricky Ponting, who is now 1 paceman down in his 4 pronged pace attack and will have to rely on Michael Clarke and Michael Hussey to complete the 6 overs available.

Kallis and Smith Fire Proteas - South Africa0 1/133

Jacques Kallis and Graeme Smith continued thier red hot form as they put on 115 runs for the 2nd wicket as they look to chase down the 329 needed for victory. Kallis (63 from 65) and Smith (51 from 43) continued to plunder the bowling however Andrew Symonds and Shane Watson have been able to cut the runs back slightly.

The worm graph highlights that dispite the good form shown by the batsmen, they are still below the standard set by Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting during the day innings.

Is this South Africa's chance for a revenge after Australia successfully chased 330 runs last time around? Kallis should be taken out of equation for Australia to have any chance what so ever.

SA hav got the perfect start..wooh..!! never thuaght of that

Symonds Makes Crucial Breakthrough - South Africa 2/169

Andrew Symonds made the crucial breakthrough for Australia by taking the wicket of Jacques Kallis as South Africa suffered a large setback against Australia in the second one day international.

Symonds tempted Kallis into a sweep shot with a straighter ball outside the off stump, however the right hander played slightly over the top of the ball and it spun straight onto the off stump.

The wicket of Kallis (79) could prove a huge setback for South Africa if Jacques Rudolph cant pick up the pace immediatly and score at the 6.5 runs per over with Graeme Smith to give the Proteas a chance at victory.

hah about time he was threatening to make a huge hundred, how many balls faced?
