Clark Bags Laxman - India 5/120

The test match slipped further into uneven grounds for the tourists with the dismissal of V.V.S Laxman at the hands of Stuart Clark to leave India struggling at 5/120. Clark combined with Ricky Ponting at 2nd slip to dismiss Laxman after the middle order batsman looked to play the ball through the covers off the back foot.

Clark managed to put enough work on the ball to catch the outside edge of Laxmans bat, the ball carrying through to Ponting at a comfortable height.

Rahul Dravid is now faced with a dilema of how to approach these next two sessions. There is still 5 and a half sessions to play in the test, enough time for India to bowl Australia out, but also enough time for the home side to claim a remarkable victory. With Mahendra Dhoni at the crease India could choose to keep attacking and throw wickets away, or grind away for a session and build up a safe target.

Captain And Keeper Stand Firm - India 5/177

Indian Captain Rahul Dravid and new wicketkeeper Mahendra Dhoni stood firm with the bat as the tourists cruised to 5/177, a lead of 333 runs. A 57 run unbeaten stand from the pair helped India into a dominant position. The 333 run lead now looking even further from the 166 made by Australia in their first innings.

Captain Celebrates 50 - India 5/182

Indian captain Rahul Dravid continued his solid Australian tour with an unbeaten half century as India worked their way to 5/182 as they build a healthy lead against the home side. Dravid took a lengthy 107 balls on his way to the milestone, but after the top and middle order fell cheaply, a tough and stabilising innings was required.

Tourists Continue To Build - India 5/188

The Indian pairing of captain Rahul Dravid and wicketkeeper Mahendra Dhoni continued their positive progress to take the visitors to 5/188 when bails were removed at the lunch interval on day 4 of the final test match.

Dravid was unbeaten on a typically solid and stable innings of 54 from 113 balls while Dhoni was extremely cautious 14 from 61 balls as the pairing of Lee and Clark tightened the screws on the 2nd test star of the future.

Lee Claims The Newcomer - India 6/221

Brett Lee claimed the wicket of test new boy Mahendra Dhoni while India strolled to 6/221 in their 2nd innings against Australia at Hobart. Dhoni was uncharacteristically patient and reserved in his lengthy innings of 14. However his partnership with Rahul Dravid was enough to put India 377 runs in front of the home side.

Dhoni was caught behind by Adam Gilchrist while looking do drive Lee through the cover region, the keeper taking a great low down catch to dismiss his opposite number.

Dravid Falls Short - India 7/241

Rahul Dravid fell an agonising 5 runs short of a superb century as India continued their dominance as they reached 7/241. Dravid was caught at square leg by Justin Langer after being beaten by the pace of Brett Lee, who took his 4th wicket of the innings. The captain looked to hook Lee to square leg but could only manage a top edge that carried easily to Langer.

While Dravid will be kicking himself over his poor choice selection that has cost him a near certain century, he will leave the field knowing that he has done his job and lead his country to their most dominant position in the 3 test series.

Dravid Pulls The Pin - Australia Req 398 To Win

Rahul Dravid set Australia a record 398 runs to win the 3rd and final test match at Hobart. On the same ground where Justin Langer and Adam Gilchrist chased down 369 runs to win the 2nd test against Pakistan in 1999. Dravid pulled the pin on the Indian innings when the tourists reached 7/242.

At 2.14 on day 4 both teams would count themselves chances of winning this match and the series. If the tourists can get a few wickets before stumps on day 4 then they will be right on top in this match, however if the home side can make it to stumps with close to 100 on the board and no more than 2 wickets down, they will consider themselves a chance at a historic victory

(Captain Rahul Dravid and Vice Captain Virender Sehwag are all smiles as they call in Anil Kumble and Ajit Agarkar as Australia are set 398 to win)

That would have been agonizing for Dravid out on 95. Ouch!

Let's hope the Aussies can pull off a great test win!

Great Stuff once again

Indian 2nd Innings Scorecard

Indian captain Rahul Dravid showed that he believes in leading by example with a commanding 95 from 159 balls to lead India to 7 dec/242, a lead of 397 runs. Brett Lee showed plenty of fight for the home side with 4/83 while Stuart Clark showed solid form on his debut to international cricket with 2/57.

The Australian reply will begin very shortly

Aussies Set About Run Chase

Australian openers Justin Langer and Matthew Hayden took to the field just after lunch on the 4th days play as the home side look to chase down the record score of 399 to win the deciding test match in Hobart. The pair will face Zaheer Khan and Ajit Agarkar on a seamers wicket that is proving to do plenty after Brett Lee took 4 scalps in the 2nd innings.

(Matthew Hayden and Justin Langer walk out under gloomy skies to resume play)
