Australia Announce "A" Squad

An Australian "A" 16 man squad was announced today ahead of the matches against the touring Indian and Pakistani one day teams. The team has taken on a youthful appearance with an eye on the development of players ahead of the Australians clash to retain the Ashes later in the year along with the 2007 world cup in the West Indies.

Captain Brad Haddin appeared confident that his youthful troop could compete with the international sides.

"This is a very talented squad and I wouldnt be suprised if we can pull off a few victories here. These games are a great indicator for the selectors of the depth we have in the ranks and also possible players to fill any vacancies on the up coming tours."

Brad Haddin
(Australian A Captain)

The Australia A 16 man squad reads as follows:

Brad Haddin (wk)(c) (NSW)
Cameron White (vc) (VIC)
Brad Hodge (VIC)
Dominic Thornely (NSW)
Phil Jaques (NSW)
Mark Cosgrove (SA)
Shaun Tait (SA)
Mick Lewis (VIC)
Shane Harwood (VIC)
Marcus North (WA)
David Hussey (VIC)
Ashley Noffke (QLD)
Michael Kaspericz (QLD)
Dan Cullen (SA)
James Hopes (QLD)
Paul Rofe (SA)

(Michael Kasperwicz will look to force his way back into the Australian team)

(Brad Hodge has been given a chance to impress selectors)

Australia A Crush Pakistan

The Australian A team has crushed the touring Pakistan one day side with a 7 wicket win at the Adelaide. Mick Lewis was the star with the ball for the home side with 4/38 along with Shaun Tait showing he is a strong chance with 2 wickets, including the captain Inzimam ul Haq.

Brad Haddin continued to push his claims with 77 as captain along with 58 from Mark Cosgrove. The pair in great form in the lead up to the series.

Disastrous start by the Pakis! Hope the Indians maintain their good run from the tests on to the ODIs.
