People who do you think should play in the 2nd and final test. Indicators early are that the pitch may be dry.
- Gillespie
- Kasper
- MacGill
- Tait
- Watson

Warne
Gillespie
Kasper
McGrath

How effective do you think Lee will be on a dry wicket? Maybe you should also consider playing McGill, but Kasper has bowled reasonably well on dry and dusty wickets in India, so I reckon he should play.

thats an interesting approach. i didnt think of that probably because lee was my best seamer in the first test. so i thought i would keep going with him. if it is dusty i think macgill might come into the frame because warne bowled really well in the second innings

go with lee...:)
& start ur 2nd test soon
i m waiting

South Africa and Australia Make Changes

Both South Africa and Australia made wholesale changes to their bowling attacks ahead of the 2nd test at Cape Town today. Due to the dry and dusty nature of the Cape town wicket following weeks of intense heat and sunshine, both sides elected to drop one of their quicks in favour of a spinner to combat the impressive batting stocks from both teams.

Andre Nel was the unfortunate bowler to be dropped from the victorious South African team from Johannesburg. Nel, who claimed 4 wickets in the first innings, was dropped in favour of relatively untried left arm spinner Robin Peterson, who has only played 5 tests and taken 8 wickets.

Unsuprisingly, Jason Gillespie made way for leg spinner Stuart MacGill in the Australian squad. Gillespies ommision allows MacGill to continue his partnership with Shane Warne, a combination rarely seen of late due to the strength of the Australian bowling attack.

What they said:

"Its obviously great to be given this chance. It was a real suprise when Smithy called be up but hopefully i can team up with Nicky Boje who had the Aussies in a bit of trouble in the last match and do my country proud"
- Robin Peterson

"I have full faith in Robin and what he can do. We are lucky that Jacques Kallis can bowl as well as he can which means we really go in with 3 seamers and 2 top spinners. Nicky troubled Australia in the second innings so hopefully we can play on that this match"
- Graeme Smith (South Africa Captain)

"I was very hopeful that I would get a chance on this tour. South Africa is a great place to play and from what i saw in the last innings the ball turns a lot here and with it being dry i think it will play into our hands. I always love teaming up with Shane and I really want to bring the series level and put myself in contention for the home series against India and Pakistan, both who play spin very very well."
- Stuart MacGill

"Well Stuies probably the next best spinner after Warnie and Murali. Hes a huge turner of the ball and has stepped into Shanes shoes before. Here he gets a chance to play with Shane and the way they bowl together scares me a little. Warnie thinks them out at one and and Stuie just ripps them out at the other"
- Ricky Ponting (Australian Captain)

Fair enough. I think Lee's performance in the first test ensured he keep his place. But Dizzy's experience, could be missed.

Australia Make First Use Of Pitch

Australian captain Ricky Ponting won the toss and elected to bat on a beautiful first morning of cricket at Cape Town. Noting the condition of the pitch and the bowlers in his arsenal, Ponting appeared confident that he has the evenly balanced team that can tie up the series. Question marks have been raised over the selection of untried spinner Robin Peterson ahead of Andre Nel or even Paul Adams but many feel that Australia will bounce back to tie up the series.

What they said:

Pitch Report

"Well this pitch is one for the slow bowlers. It will turn alot, spin quickly and bounce consistantly. Once your set here I think you will eye off a big score very quickly because the quicks may suffer on the fast track. Brett Lees pace may be a factor because he is the next step up in pace above the rest and the bouncy surface may even help him a little"

- Ian Healy - Former Australian Wicketkeeper

The Game

"I absolutly loved the first game. Its great to see the rivalry between these teams. Go back to that classic match back in 1993 when Damien Martyn was dropped after the loss at the SCG and then the games at World Cup 1999, these guys just always produce the goods. I think Shane and Stuie will come into play alot more here and i think the Australian batsman will hit their straps and take this game early"

- Mark Taylor - Former Australian captain

"Well the major advantage South Africa have here is Jacques Kallis. He is one of the best batsmen in the world and a top medium bowling allrounder. I think his bowling will come into play here due to the 2 spinners being used. He will allow Shaun Pollock and Makhaya Ntini to rest and I think he will be what brings Australia down and leads South Africa to a match and series victory. Graeme Smith and Herschelle Gibbs need to stand up though"

- Jonty Rhodes - South African legend

"This pitch will turn more and more as the match progresses. We have 2 of the best spinners in the world, two of the best leggies for sure. They will have a great time out here. Now we have to hit our straps with the bat. That is what let us down in the first innings and i have set all the boys the challenge and they now know what needs to be done."

- Ricky Ponting - Australian Captain

"I have full faith in the boys. We have given Robin a chance but i think we are a collective unit now and we work for each other. I would not only love to seal the series with a win here but it will also put us in good stead for the One Day series. I think we need to get into the middle order early on this wicket to get a good result"

- Graeme Smith - South African Captain

just for the selection issues
the pitch i think will just suit stuie more than any other bowling option. brett lee bowled so well in the first. even if he didnt take wickets while gillespie was a little bit more flat.

I would also like to say thanks to barmy army and langerrox for the bat pack im using and brett lee for the amazing ground that i am using. thanks very much guys. hopefully youll emjoy the next match

don't forget you can use gaMCHanger now for variable weather conditions!

There's sunny and overcast options, so you could do what I do and roll a dice at start of each day - eg roll 1-3 = sunny, 4-6 = overcast etc

just a thought
