Australian Tour of India, October 2010/11

Yet another 50 for Watson, he's a become a run machine and expect him to have Jimmy Anderson for breakfast on Aussie pitches and Ponting is starting to get back to his best which is great for the game :D

Come on Hussey and Punter :happy

I don't know if it's just a new game, but it does feel that Hussey has followed Watson in being more runs-conscious in this innings.

I guess that was India's session, but they wouldn't feel like they're on top. Australia's attacking batting has created chances, but has kept the runs flowing in. It's hard to say whether India would be happy to see those risky shots or not. Some bowlers might prefer death by strangulation. There's also the matter of the weaker fielders being in the deep, versus the markedly better ones in close catching positions.

that was really good by hussey. that was what australia missed in the 1st tests, some impetus to make india a little desperate.

I would say australia, with 2 batsmen in and only 3 down, are on top.

Even now, 4/200 is good going. That's the importance of your top order doing well. India have had some breakthroughs, but the batsmen have a head start.

Hussey out now, still not right but definitely better than what he showed in the 1st Test. Over to North to make another career saving 100.

North has scored already 21 runs. Pretty good of him.

ZexyZahid added 15 Minutes and 35 Seconds later...

Raina getting Ponting's wicket is like North getting Tendulkar's wicket.

this match is poised now. paine made a big score, north is in and has tended to go on from here, so over 400 is still on the cards, but due to the form and that there's no proper batsman left there is an equal chance india could bundle them out for around 300.

Khan to North, no run, 81.4 mph, this is special stuff from Zaheer, he took the last one away, and decided to go the other way with this one. It tails in sharply, headed for North's toes like a guided missile and he does well to keep it out.

85.4
Khan to North, FOUR, 80.9 mph, huge swing there from Zaheer, it curved away viciously from a full length. North was in no position to drive and edged up flashing a mile away from his body. It flew through the area behind square on the off side. Lucky.
This is what Zaheer is about. He's not a great starter with the new ball, but strangely with the second new ball or the old ball he's the best in the subcontinent.

India will be pleased. The Aussies are gonna have to work hard for them to beat India from this position.

Even stevens day and thats surprising since I thought after seeing the way the Aussies started, we would be in for a long haul. Whatever Raina does in tests these days clicks. Big wicket that of Ponting! If we can bundle them out for 350 odd, we should be really happy. 400+ and they will be happy. Another exciting match in store. Happy that test cricket is being so exciting as it was before, on Indian conditions.

I am afraid 400's not gonna be enough to beat India especially without Bollinger as the pitch is expected to play better in the 2nd day with India batting, Aussies need to get at least somewhere around 500 to put some pressure on India which is highly unlikely from here. India are definitely on top here imo.

a score between 450-500 will do it i think;)
but hard to work hard tommorrow to get it!!:p

Good game of cricket so far! We'll have to get them all out by tomorrow 11:00 AM or so.

Case (i): To get the result, India will have to bat for one and half day (Till the end of Day 3 or max by day 4 afternoon ) and get some lead (around 50-100 runs). The game will have a winner!

Case (ii): Play for two days, get some records in and let the game draw.

I vote for the second one. Risking for a victory against the opposition like Aussies is just like keeping finger into tigers mouth. And moreover, its long time since we witness a huge score (Above 600, with a Double ton, couple of centuries and few fifties) from Indian team.
