Australian Tour of India, October 2010/11

What? A 185 run lead? Still think Australia might have given themselves enough runs to fight it out for the win. Another awesome game where all 3 results possible going into the final day. What happened to the curators suddenly?

Most likely Australia will extend their lead tomorrow morning to 225 odd and then declare or be all out. Its going to be a Herculean task for India to survive or win. Cant wait!

Funny at it sounds, the Aussies aren't too far off my Plan A scenario. If they can get to 250 in front (only 65 more) and have about 70 overs at the Indians, I think that's a pretty juicy target. Hard to defend at that runrate, but after a couple of wickets it mightn't be so bad. Either way, we need to be aggressive and try and win this match. A win here and suddenly the series has been Australia's really, given the insanely close first Test. In fact, take out Tendulkar and maybe Zaheer and an innings each from Vijay and Laxman, that's why India's in front.

Just looking at the numbers for the series thus far and gosh we've had some disappointing batsmen. Katich, Clarke and Hussey have a highest score of 43 between them (plus North's 3 other scores combined for 13 runs). And my preseries combined XI had Katich and Clarke in it, so it's extra disappointing from those 2. But at least Ponting's looked good. He often does after a rest, so in that way he's the opposite of Mitch Johnson.

220 is quite a lot on a last day pitch here in Bangalore.
This time round, India are without their First Test batting stars too. I am guessing that Dravid would come good here, home ground.

No. Dravid has always failed at his home ground. This is common knowledge. And especially with the form he's in, he's more of a liability than anything right now. The only real person India's missing is Laxman. Either way, there's no way Aussie can win this now. Two results possible - Indian victory (if they can rattle out Aussie's tail quickly + Sehwag plays a quickfire innings of at least 50) or draw. Only a fool would bet on an Australian victory. 220 is a steep target on that pitch only if you have decent spinners in your attack. Australia's spinners are poorer than India's part timers.

Did you guys see the Indian team for the ODIs? No Sehwag, No Gambhir, No Tendulkar, No Zaheer, No Harbhajan, No Ishant, No Irfan, and No Ojha. They're bringing back Jadeja, Rohit Sharma, Munaf Patel, and Yuvraj Singh.

The selectors might as well hand the trophy over to the Australians.

can't call it.

on one hand I think india, having learned their lesson on cheap wickets early in a chase, should set themselves up. on the other hand, while laxman was unlikely to repeat the exploits of the first test, you do feel after 3 down things could start going very quickly the way of aus.

I hate that new thing on the top. If you quote someone you have to scroll down to the msg box. Put that thing at the bottom instead.

Click on the arrow to the right to the "Cricket Plus" header and all those stuff at the top should now disappear.

We have so lost this.

Dont worry. India will make it interesting enough for you to harbor thoughts of winning. You are still not out of it yet. 200 odd to chase on a 5th day wicket will be tough. Only problem is, Australia's spin attack is pretty poor to exploit the pitch. And the reverse swing happens a little late after the ball is scuffed up.

Indian bowlers will try tpick u these three wickets as early possible to bat again and chase the total but i am a bit afraid that India would repeat the Aussie's Mistake hope we'll have a good game

What timing. At the start of the 5th day the Chile mineworkers are being rescued. The second one just got out of the tunnel. I am watching it live.

Australian batsmen aren't really in a hurry to make runs.

Reverse swing happening for both the fast bowlers. Hope we prise out the wickets soon here. Sreesanth has kept Hauritz playing and missing almost every delivery.

Hauritz is just throwing the bat at everything. The bowling doesn't look as scary to Johnson who is leaving them.

Is Cricinfo correct? It shows Zaheer having bowled one delivery at 146.6 Kph :p

Sreesanth might catch the edge of Hauritz if his bowling wasn't impaired by that damn swing

Done in the leave, that's a mighty dismissal.
