Russell Brand has a programme on BBC Radio 2 on Saturday nights. On October 18th, his regular co-presenter was away so Jonathan Ross was in as a guest presenter.
They wanted to interview Andrew Sachs (the actor who played Manuel in Fawlty Towers) but they were unable to get hold of him. They instead left offensive and distressing messages on his answer phone, taunting him about Brand sleeping with his grandaughter.
Immediately, there were a few complaints about this, but the story was published in the Mail On Sunday and there have now been more than 18,000 complaints about this.
The BBC have now taken the decision to suspend Brand and Ross. Their BBC Radio 2 programmes (Ross has one on Saturday mornings) have been cancelled, as has the popular Friday Night With Jonathan Ross on BBC One, due to be shown on October 31st.
What does everyone think of this? I personally think neither of them will lose their jobs. Brand is a prat, Ross is too but I don't mind him. Sachs wants them both sacked.
