Russell Brand has a programme on BBC Radio 2 on Saturday nights. On October 18th, his regular co-presenter was away so Jonathan Ross was in as a guest presenter.

They wanted to interview Andrew Sachs (the actor who played Manuel in Fawlty Towers) but they were unable to get hold of him. They instead left offensive and distressing messages on his answer phone, taunting him about Brand sleeping with his grandaughter.

Immediately, there were a few complaints about this, but the story was published in the Mail On Sunday and there have now been more than 18,000 complaints about this.

The BBC have now taken the decision to suspend Brand and Ross. Their BBC Radio 2 programmes (Ross has one on Saturday mornings) have been cancelled, as has the popular Friday Night With Jonathan Ross on BBC One, due to be shown on October 31st.

What does everyone think of this? I personally think neither of them will lose their jobs. Brand is a prat, Ross is too but I don't mind him. Sachs wants them both sacked.

Brand is an unfunny twat. Couldn't care less if I never saw him again.

No loss to BBC Radio 2, tbh Brand's show never fitted in with the rest of the stations schedule anyway.

There's been a lot of talk lately about the BBC paying its big stars too much money, maybe this is convenient for them. :spy

Cannot stand Russell Brand. His pathetic attempt at an apology should get him sacked alone! Wossy should know better, he's been around long enough to know where the limit is. I guess we'll find out just how valuable he is to the BBC.

I used to always listen to Ross on Radio 2 when going to golf. Some pretty funny stuff. But yeah, couldn't give a damn about Brand

I've listened to it on Youtube, and although I can see why it's been taken the wrong way and taken with offense, I still found t bloody funny. I'm not normally a Russell Brand fan, but this was actually very funny. I can see why Sachs is offended, and rightly so, but they were just having a laugh, it wasn't supposed to be serious. They just took it abit far. They shouldn't lose their jobs over this, especially Ross, he's a legend.

Brand is a bell end. He should have been suspended ages ago for just being a right c u next tuesday.

I don't even think what they did is that bad, I just hate Russel Brand and am happy he got suspended. I didn't find it funny nor was I offended by it and tbh I think people are just bandwagoning on the hate campaign because people love it when they can look down on celebs.

It was a pre-recorded show. This is a part of the main problem. The producers saw nothing wrong with the content. It's not as though it was a live show. It's taken too long for them to be suspended pending an investigation.

It's hilarious, daily mail readers taking it way out of context without listening to it. Don't get me started on people sad enough to ring in and complain to OFCOM or the BBC.

I like both of them, Brand's stand-up is brilliant, and Ross is great at what he does. Can't see them getting sacked though, and if they do, ITV or channel 4 will pick them up. Just heard Brand has resigned from his radio show, my point is proven by his appearance on Ponderland this Thursday on C4.

A mountain is being made out of a molehill, she's no angel, just look at her profession and what the name of her group is called. There were 2 complaints after a week of it being aired, then the daily mail ran it, and suddenly everyone finds it 'appalling'. The daily mail who had been slagged off by Brand who said they were linked with the Nazi's, surely the daily mail wouldn't hold a grudge, eh?

Listen to it on youtube, the song that he writes is fantastic:D.

No, she's not even hot. Neither are the rest of her group. Still, Brand's a twat and like the rest of his repertoire, that just wasn't funny.

He's not funny! Ross is.

Brand just makes too many jokes that I don't laugh at. Everything he does, the way he talks to the way he walks is supposed to be funny but it's not!

Brand is funny, but i spose alot of people jumped on the hating him bandwagon. I've not heard it but its a joke they only had 2 complaints before then after the daily mail posted it they had 18,000. Banks are failing and we're in an economic crisis and the best the mail can come up with is this!? I bet the government are loving the time this is giving them!

Each to their own I guess. And I can see why he wouldn't be to everyone's taste.

The whole thing is just a mountain being made out of a molehill by people who aren't even that bothered, and just dont like Brand and Ross. The granddaughter is doing brilliantly out of it, two interviews with the sun already at how much and good publicity. Even Sachs didn't seem too bothered in the interview. If it wasn't for the daily mail, this wouldn't even have made the front page.

EDIT: Agreed Duded, can't believe the moral outrage from government and the MP's, surely their time should be spent dealing with the financial crisis which is 100x more important.
