Best Ever ODI Bowler

Tbh I think i've only seen Wasim play twice. I vividly remember the 2003 WC innings, and also seem to remember some Asia XI match, where Wasim came out to bat with Sachin Tendulkar.

Any bowler with a strike rate of under 30.

Mendis 23.70
Bond 29.25
Lee 29.27

Ok, I think this thread has shown how many people here never saw 80's one dayers. I dont remember Ambrose or Garner EVER being taken to the cleaners, no-one hit easy fours of those guys. You were lucky to be 60 as a team by 20 overs. Ambrose never got carted at the death, apart from one amazing SRW six at the SCG in 88/89.

Its true their economy is good but their strike rate suffers. At least in the case of Ambrose, Walsh and Marshall, Garner was a brilliant ODI bowler and his stats show for it, but in his day anything over 210-220 was a really good score in a ODI.

No-one was able to get anything above 220 against the WI 4 man attack!

it was hard to cross that score in tests against the legendary quartet let alone in a ODI.

but once the WI batsman made 220+ it was already enough pressure on the opposing batsman to chase that score. Then when Garner, Roberts, Holding, Marshall came out they really knew they had a small chance to chase the score.

That was the evolution time of ODI cricket, mind set of players was still like a test match but I think if those WI's bowler will bowls today they will be hit for sixes and fours. Now batsman has a slight advantage over blower, they are now well protected and can bat fearlessly.

What a post! :facepalm

It's tough to choose between

Ambrose
McGrath
Walsh
Wasim
W.Younis
Bond

Those are the bowlers I love to watch anytime. If I had to choose one among those, I will go for Ambrose. :)

You mean like the last 2 ODI's played over the past 2 days? 1st innings scores of 170 and 211. Not every match this decade has seen scores of over 350 in every innings. There were plenty of 250+ scores in the 80's. And no, teams did not approach them like test matches, that is a ridiculous comment.

who said that now every match is over 350 read my post carefully and argue if you find any fault there.
don't you think why now batsman are fearless?because they have high protection mostly pitches suit them and I am not saying that those WI's bowler wouldn't be grate as they were but there will be less fear of them on the batsmen as they were during that period.

definately not bhajji or zaheer!

Could be hauritz? :p

maybe venkatesh prasad is the worst bowler!:laugh
