Big Ant Studios post first look at Cricket game

First of all, its great to know this game too didnt fade off the horizon :cheers

Now, is there going to be any licensed team in this game or its upto the modding community to do their job?

The screenshot posted has players of a very lower height. I mean they look like 5'2" or 5'3". Shouldnt they be atleast 5'7", normally players are of that height.

Secondly, can we have different heights like in Fifa or PES games for players like a smaller height for Tendulkar and a bigger one for Morne Morkel or Steven Finn?

Thirdly, can we change the collar styles of the kits?

----------

Fourthly, will this game feature subcontinent stadiums? And what about licensing?

----------

And any idea about the requirements of the game?

@AsadAbrar
I can't remember if its earlier on this thread or one of the others. But Ross posted a YouTube video of their rugby player editor. You could adjust height, width, eye colour, face shape etc etc. They claim the cricket editor will be even better. I think this game promises to have the best editor ever on a cricket game. At least that's the message I'm getting.

I have missed that, so if true that is great news :cheers

I am more interested in this game than AC13 but at the same time I fear for it may never see the daylight (Cricket game with robust player editor ,excellent gfx , career mode all this sound to good to be true :mad)

...everyone is entitled to an opinion, I am just pointing out that "normally" mod's have been chosen because they have an even handed approach and normally ensure facts are correct before posting.... I guess things are different on here.

Chuckle...

Hi Big Ant. Glad your first three posts on PlanetCricket are combative ones, attacking someone for raising valid points in a humorous way. Nice way to get "over" and encourage people to like you and your product. The ol' tried and true "bang their door down" approach.

EDIT:

...also your keeper gloves look like mittens.

Agreed with all above, everyone is entitled to an opinion, I am just pointing out that "normally" mod's have been chosen because they have an even handed approach and normally ensure facts are correct before posting.... I guess things are different on here.

BTW everything I have posted is not an opinion, it is fact, hopefully we can all keep it like that :p

Not sure, I just got here.... I guess so?

Lol, love your signature, just don't read it out aloud as someone might hear you :p
That's because PC doesn't have moderators like me. :p

In case you missed it, we're gonna have a career mode in this game too. :)

The details are posted in the other thread, but you can see the video here. i heard quite a lot of great things and great reviews about RL2. I am very posetive about this game. I am not even bothered about licencing, as long as we have detailed stadiums, Gripping AI, and decent graphics and animation to make this game a good experience.

The player editor is going to be sick, if it's even better than the rugby player editor. Good job :thumbs

You just proved me right by saying this.

I really felt that was a spam account until your username turned purple. Now lets leave that out. All the best for a good game. :thumbs. Trying peeping into the Ashes 13 section for suggestions.

Great suggestion, I'd take notes on 'how to communicate with others' and 'learning differences in opinion is good for healthy debate and discussion'.

...also, pick up and play any game from BLIC through to IC10 on what wicket keeper gloves should look like in game.

Welcome ross

You have made a lot of people on this site every happy.
A career mode and weather, plus 2 screen shots is a good start.
Like i said before i buy any cricket game and will pay both next year.

Also im thinking your game is near finished to tell us these juice facts.
Any more features you want to share :D maybe 6 months of tweaks needed as
cricket is a real hard game to get right as most of the other games show.

My question is how far away from a trailer or a short gameplay video are we.
If months is the answer please put more screen shots weekly and we will be happy. p.s I like the 80s gloves on the wicket keeper:)

There is a little bit of me that says if you can dish it then you should be able to take it, and I think I only gave back as well as I got. No more, no less.

I look forward to other games being publicly and be objectively treated in the same way as ours and I look forward to them being pulled apart in a very agressive way with any screenshot/video that is presented.

I am sorry for my opening reaction, I now understand the deal here.

Having two games can only be a good thing.

Last I'll say of it.

Thanks.

Cricket is definitely hard to get right, we've decided to do it differently to the games of the past, indeed a key difference in all of our games is that we don't like stoppages or camera cuts while the ball is in play. We are at the stage that the game is playable.

In terms of what is ready and what isn't - I can tell you that we actually have two cricket games in the works. One is a more "kiddy" arcade version that is called "Tabletop Cricket" a PC/PS3/XBox360 version of cricket that simulates the old felt tabletop/ball bearing form of cricket. More details on this will follow very soon. I will share some screenshots with you later this week.

On the gloves front - I can't say which gloves these were modelled off, all I can say is that I will find out and will show the photo reference, that's for sure, but I can assure you that I will put up my hand if and say if we've got it wrong (it happens :) ) The guy on our team that modelled them currently plays cricket in Melbourne and has done all his life so I'll be disapointed if they are not "real".
