Biggest hitters in the game.

The MCG Length is 169.7 Metres or 185.6 Yards
The width is 146.2 Metres or 159.9 Yards

So being the pitch is roughly in the middle, a pitch is 22 yards (20.12 Metres I think), if a Batsman was to hit a straight six it would be about 97 Yards or 88 Metres to the fence.
Stupid imperial measurements!

The figures I agree with, except if the pitch is placed in the exact centre, the batsman is always about 10m (probably more like 9 or 8 when you factor in his stance and movement) behind the centre. I get about 83m for a straight hit, being that the straight boundary is the shorter dimension. The longest boundaries are just in front of square.

Afridi, symonds, cairns, freddie, inzi (of spinners), and Razzaq are the few names that spring to mind. Afridi and symonds are all power, Freddie and cairns have a lot of class when they hit, Inzi hits some real biggies against spinners so does lara and Razzaq hits very well down the order. Infact Razzaq is the my best bet in the last ten overs. I think he is the best man at that position.

Well, i don't think we can have opinions on these...that much. Its more like a fact. We know Sir Viv Richards was a big hitter, we know Kapil was a big hitter and we know Afridi is a good hitter, and Flintoff is a good hitter...and that is because they have proved it, consistantly.
Dhoni is proving to be one in the list, i'm sure that aggressive instinct will not fade away but with only a year experience, its hard to put him in a list that includes Sir Viv and Chris Cairns.

If you look at the figures I put up I did infact include the point you made.

The lenth is 159.xx yards, say 160 Yards to even it out. if you half that then you get 80 Yards which is the middle of the ground, then I added about a 8 yards onto that for the very reason you noted.

Yeah, I was confused about that, because I couldn't work out exactly why you were only a little different, so I explained what I thought anyway.

As I understand it, the Adelaide Oval has one of the longest straight boundaries, 190m on that axis. In fact, in the past, before the ropes were introduced, it was a crowd raising feat when the batsmen would run a 5.

what the hell had happened to the ground .
Had the people realy come to watch a match on it .
it looks like a muddy ground in summer..

Nobody did, I just said someone one will do!
Odds on Bets:
Kevin Pietersen 9/1
Sachin Tendulkar 14/1
Steven Harmison 300/1 :p

You said someone did  .

Btw hondeyho, Harmison is capable of hitting big, big sixes. he would be about 20/1

He showed that in RSA, i still say Ali Brown is the biggest hit, 2 double hundreds in limited overs, including one 40 over game, and neither at Taunton.

Harmison is capable yes but he does miss it. It was just like the 300/1 bet you could get for Harmison getting a double century in The Ashes! I'll say this 1 more time, I'm not good at explaining things!

I'm sure it would have been possible to hit out of the MCG after the removal of the members' stand.
