Biggest hitters in the game.

I heard once that sourav ganguly hit such a big six that he broke a car windshield 3 miles away (or something like that)

*waits for nixon to reply with correct facts*
3 miles sounds like a bit of an exaggeration to me.

Lol 3 miles away is a major exaggeration. Highly unlikely and i doubt any cricketer in the history of the game could hit it that far.

Not possible.

Cricket ground is about 120 yards (from centre over the stands?), 3 miles is nearly 5,000 yards.

In that case then, surely the record for biggest six goes to WG Grace, who once hit a ball out of the ground and onto a passing train. It went miles!

Dint the sixth six that Sobers hit off Malcolm Nash land on the railway lines at some distance from the ground ?
What remains to be known is , how big the ground was ?

That sounds more like from the middle to the fence, well it would be at the major Australian grounds.

The MCG Lenth is 169.7 Metres or 185.6 Yards
The width is 146.2 Metres or 159.9 Yards

So being the pitch is roughly in the middle, a pitch is 22 yards (20.12 Metres I think), if a Batsman was to hit a straight six it would be about 97 Yards or 88 Metres to the fence.

Does he play for Western Australia by any chance?

Just thought I'd point out to you, while being part of the Western Australian squad, he doesn't actually make their team. He plays for Western Australia A, I believe. :D
