Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

I reckon he'd slot nicely into the #6 spot for Australia. Hope his batting keeps coming along and a very handy spinner.

Yep he could be alright at 6 in the future. Was hoping he would go on a bit more this season with the bat, so far he has given us a taste here and there.

Gambhir should have pushed further. Falling to a spinner is just not on.

Managed to track down all 9 of Maxwell's shield games. Most of his runs have actually come at #7 and #8. A couple of chances at 5 and 6 but hasn't done much there. I guess given his aggressive nature (SR of 75), coming in further down gives him a bit of a licence to go for it and that's where he's more comfortable. Wade at 6 and Maxwell at 7 might work better. His only not out was on his match winning maiden century, so it's not like those are padding his average.

As for his bowling and fielding, 10 catches in 9 matches suggests he's got a good pair of hands, and his 16 wickets have all been top/middle order batsmen apart from his most recent in Boyce.

While he does have the licence to go for it, there have been a few times where he has had to come in at 5/150 and he's performed which is always good to see as you don't want a guy that is a freeloader who only performs when the pressure is off.

Yeah true, didn't take notice of the match situations when I was scanning through and haven't followed much shield cricket except for NSW. Hopefully he finishes the shield season well and finds himself in the running once our oldtimers are shown the door.

Not a bad first Indian wicket for Boyce. Found it quite strange how Dravid got out, not like him to caught at mid on.

Someone's gotta warn Sachin - a century at Manuka doesn't count as an "international" century.

Not to concerned about how many runs they get. It's more important that they spend time out in the middle. Dravid and Sachin have done that and Gambhir to an extent as well. Looks like Laxman could be there for a bit too.
